I am not sure if this will work, apologies if it doesn't but @Mostyn6 has been on at me to start a quiz.  The idea is to name the 11 players who started the stated match for the team I give.

I am not sure if it needs rules and they can always change but how about;

  1. You can only name one player per thread
  2. You can only post a subsequent thread once someone else has posted
  3. First person to name a player gets the credit
  4. No internet searching
  5. If you actually went to the game in question - 10 bonus points.

The first game I have picked is England v Northern Ireland, 04 April 1984 and I am looking for the 11 England players who started that day.

If this doesn't work, we'll say no more about it.

    Pointless answer.

  • Is no 4 Darren Bent. The way he plays he must have started around that time!

would be pure guess work for me. I wasn't 'consciously' watching football back then, especially England.

So, as you've mentioned me, I will start with:-

Ray Wilkins

We'll see if it works.  If it does I'll use a range of games and eras including Derby.

I can also confirm that Ray Wilkins is correct.

Nope, if I was naming the XI, I'd have picked him.  Must have been one of the few he missed.

I reckon you do yes, I am sure you can remember our old quizzes, you'd spend time researching the question and answer, type it up, post it and then when you refreshed the page, some clever monkey had answered the lot in one fell swoop!

No, it's a good idea. I'm slightly too young for this one though.
