rammieib
Can anyone help point in a good direction to enable me to get a copy of Microsoft Office (In particular Excel and Word). Doesn't have to be an up to date copy, happy to pay a small fee, but would like it to then be permanent on my PC. Microsoft did a clever thing on the last copy where it disabled the editing function on it after one year. If anyone can point me in a good direction for this it would be appreciated? Thanks
RicME85
Any reason it has to be MS Office? Google Docs is more than capable as is openoffice and libreoffice
Mostyn6
Google Docs are not a patch on Excel to anyone who uses the functionality.
rammieib
I'm likely to use Excel a fair bit (Including the possibility of VB) but no desire to learn anything new if it looks different if you get my drift.(Also saves the wife complaining)
Mostyn6
I've used the same code on three laptops now. If you have a code, and it pre-installed on microsoft Windows pc/laptop, it should work.
CornwallRam
If you happen to know someone who is either a student or a staff member at a university, you could try convincing them to order you a discounted copy of Office. Generally all you need is an email address ending in ".ac". Microsoft usually offer their own discounts, but I've always found that http://onthehub.com/ is the best bet. You could maybe also try http://www.software4students.co.uk/ but they are usually pretty pricey.

therealhantsram
If you work in a company that has a particular type of licence arrangement with Microsoft called an Enterprise Agreement, you can get it for £10. Most companies over about 1000 people have this kind of licence deal. You can check your eligability here: http://www.microsofthup.com/hupuk/home.aspx

Ask your IT department. universitys and schools also have similar licenses for students too
therealhantsram
One final option I just thought of, you can subscribe at £7.99 /month for up to 5 users. https://products.office.com/en-gb/office-365-home Over a year it mounts up, but it's good value for money if you want the online storage it comes with to back up your photos/videos. £7.99 /month is same price as Dropbox Pro which gives same amount of storage. Well yeah hence me asking if there was a reason. Basic spreadsheet stuff it is more than acceptable but anything complex then going with one of the alternatives is the way to go. There is a Reddit 'Microsoft Marketplace' or something similar where you can buy legit Microsoft keys btw
