Huge flag

Choosing a 'neutral' pic, not time or era-dependent would be my fave.  Populate the ground with lots of replica flags from the fans' design, as we do already have the large and iconic 'Super Rams' flag, which is seen everywhere.

Small flags can be raised and waved often, when goals are scored, etc, to turn the iPro black & white, as opposed to another huge flag to be displayed or surfed for a short time. With the (iPro) stadium hopefully selling out attendances more and more, there may not be space to leave a big flag on display during the game.

Another giant flag would also need a reliable & conscientious fan group to look after it, store it, clean it and be punctual with it at stadia - no mean feat, as Nick W & friends would confirm.

Remember too about flag quality - it must be resilient, in flame-retardant certified material, as stadia safety officers will want to know it is safe before allowing it to be displayed and have sight of the certificate details.

If it must be another big flag, perhaps use a real RAM, like the photo of that lovely beast a couple of pages back, or Private Ram. With a simple message at the head or foot - "WE ARE DERBY" or "COME ON YOU RAMS" may not be a radical design but the impact and scale would tell who we are!

The original giant flag was part-funded by the striking-up & selling of 500 Super Rams enamel badges, in a one-off commission.  They were sold at £3.00 each - and sold out PDQ, raising £1,500 of the £1,800 required to commission that giant flag.

The badges allowed many fans to make a small donation (or buy 20 badges from the originators, to re-sell to collectors!) and be happy in the knowledge that they were part of the group effort to make the flag happen.

Proud to see the Super Rams flag still flying and bearing the crest - and hope to see many more flags as the club grows and succeeds!

Really like the idea of the huge flags surfing the ground, it's a great site to see.

But the self proclaimed "flag man" has annoyed me a little with regards to them. He always said the flag belongs to the fans, but why do all his minions hold onto it when it's being surfed. It's not like you can roll up a 25ft flag and shove it up your jumper and steal it.

If the fans have paid, let it surf properly!!! Oh and don't go all egotistical like he has. Parading around like you represent all derby fans

Good luck in your mission
