He grew into the game well, looks very good dribbling with the ball. He should get better the more he plays, too, as this was pnly his first competitive fixture since getting injured for Man United first game of the season.

tough choices.

ince has to be first choice.

dawks looked good - lingard looks like he can play a bit too.

for me lingard edges it - just - as he seemed to better defensively than dawkins.

(and dawkins can't shoot  ;) )

what happens when super johnny russell comes back?

Ince and Russell will be first choice.

You can add a fully fit Jamie Ward to that list too, pre injury he was quality.

A lot of the game Jesse didn't quite seem to be on the same wavelength as the other players, but he kept wanting the ball and going again. I thought he was spent as we were going through the second half, which would hardly be surprising given he's not been playing. And then he showed us what he could do, with beautiful balance and skill to waltz past 4 players before being brought down on the edge of the area. The sort of stuff to get you off your seat and that augers well for the rest of the campaign. Though, as I said in the matchday thread, why on Earth let Jamie Ward near the freekick to waste all that good work?

[And, as I said on the matchday thread, I love Jamie and he's brilliant for us, but he's simply terrible with set pieces.]

Mentioned in the match thread.... Think him playing just behind the main striker would be his best position... He's a faster version of Chris Commons...

Do you think that johnny Russell be back for the game on Tuesday

Sheffield Wednesday game.

Anyway on this thread I thought Lingard was lively today...

Indeed - i didn't mean to miss ward off.

It goes to show we will have myriad options in those positions.

impressed with lingard - I thought he was blowing a bit at the end but to say that he hadn't played since opening day that was understandable - I thought he worked very hard. He looked pretty quick.
