Cardiff City signings

They're always likely to make a few marquee signings, as are Fulham and Norwich, they've got the parachute payments to be able to afford it. But many, many teams have proven that marquee signings, prem league has-beens and flops, do not build a team that will get you out of the Championship. QPR just, by the skin of their teeth, did it, but were outclassed for the majority of the season by Leicester, Burnley, and indeed us.

So as scary as Cardiff's team sheet might look (and it doesn't actually look particularly scary), with little working experience of the Championship in the team, and certainly in the management, I really think they'll struggle.

They probably think they've got more chance of bounce straight up, because they walked it last time, and they probably feel they can just repeat that. But they only walked it after years of hard work getting better and better, and even with just one year in the prem (as we know to our great pain) you basically have to start from scratch.

Too many teams come down, assuming they'll just bounce right back up, too many owners think they can just chuck a load of money at it, and promotion is a done deal, but it really doesn't work like that in the Championship.

Doesn't it make you happy to be a Derby fan when you read this thread.

After many many years of having a poorly run club we now have owners who do care for the club not to put us in trouble and a manager who loves the club. Sam Rush said we would only be adding a few players if we went up which was sensible talking.

Cardiff have and are doing everything I hate about football. Why sign 2 more strikers who on their day are at best good championship players, now they are overloaded with strikers on big wages. Why is it once a team tastes success they feel the need to add journey men to try and get them promoted or stay in the prem.

What is so refreshing about our team is the hunger and passion of youth. The odd older head here and there is good for those moments when a foot on the ball is needed. This team is going places ( as Ramage keeps saying) without the team being broken by some odd signings.
