Thorne was a passenger in an Abbey Cars taxi which was ferrying him to the club's training ground, Moor Farm, where he was due to undertake a medical. However, the car was forced to swerve after almost hitting a man hiding in a hedgerow, muttering something about being from Belper. This ended with the car becoming lodged upside down in a ditch. Thorne's injuries include two suspected broken arms, rendering him unable to sign his contract. He is thought to be in plaster until September 1st.
