It sounds from that as if NC is losing patience with sammon in much the same way he criticised maguire or cyw......oops

Chris has some qualities we don't already have in the team, says Clough

He can play, the lad, and he has some qualities which we don't have in our team at the moment," said Clough.

"He is in there primarily to hold the ball up, which he did most of the time he was on.

"That is something we are lacking in our forwards at the moment, somebody to get hold of the ball and bring our midfielders into play.

"He did that quite well when he came on."

The question becomes the meaning of such. Sammon is better at doing the work to keep the ball up front, whilst Martin can act more as a midfielder. Odd sort of discussion though as the way the role is seen in England is that it's one role. Martin seems more of a ball player than Sammon, who looks a workhorse.

Martin never broke into the squad.

Cywka wasn't dropped until the new season, when there were better players to replace him following his injury

Albert - Sammon's control is so poor that for most of the match the only bringing into play he does is of the opposition players.

I had some sympathy with him until Friday evening, but watching Martin actually control the ball - and bring Derby players into the game made me really appreciate just how poor Sammon really is.

Being a poor player is sometime forgivable in goalscoring striker - but puts one like Sammon in the chocolate fireguard category.
