I am currently creating a hand out for the rest of the class on occupations, naturally I chose Football Manager after Football Player has been taken.

One of the question is what qualifications does the job require???

I understand there is some confusion as to whether Nigel Clough needed some License. Can anybody please clarify if a manager appointed as of 2013 needs some sort of Coaching license etc? Cheers guys.

The rule will have been a shock to Clough, who faces an uncertain future until he gets the extra qualifications.

Ironically, Forest are about to bring in former player and boss Frank Clark in a senior role and he has been a strong advocate of the rules through his connections at the FA and LMA.

Clark will be given a post in the next few days but has already been working for Forest behind the scenes.[/size]

New appointments need the licenses I believe.

The way round it would be to employ a manager who has them then pick the players and team for him.

It used to be the case that a manager with a B licence could apply for special dispensation to work at the top level if he landed such a job. To the best of my knowledge this dispensation has always been given, but subject to certain conditions - usually that the correct badge has to be gained within a certain timescale.

I think that Shearer, Roeder and Southgate all managed in this way.

However, I have a feeling that they may have tightened up the rules in the last couple of years.
