  1. Through already, with a chance to give younger players some minutes and we get Henderson and 5 at the back. Shambles.
  2. His wages would have absolutely crippled us financially, there was no way it would be feasible.
  3. So completely away from the original point for an unrelated Warne moan. Good stuff.
  4. The point is that it isn't Warne trying to throw blame on his players, he's telling us what he told the players. You've just skim read a quote without understanding the context and attempted to use it to make your case.
  5. It's also clearly Warne quoting what he was saying to playing staff ahead of a game, of course he said you, he isn't on the pitch playing. I have no idea why he thinks that is a relevant point.
  6. I openly stated in this thread that I don't think he's the right man. I'm just providing some balance by also reviewing the players performances or lack of too. I have done on this thread exactly what you alledge that I don't. Try reading what I say before throwing out petty jibes.
  7. Tonight was largely the same players though, 9 of the 11 starters were in the team last season. How can the team play so well at Barnsley under Warne's instructions, but seem unable to play with any tempo at all tonight? I'm not a Warne apologist, I've openly stated in this thread I don't believe he's the right man, but the players are **also** the problem.
  8. Do you believe the players assume any of the blame for their poor performance tonight, yes or no?
  9. The classic RoyMac method of discussion, completely ignore the question asked and answer with another question of your own.
  10. Of course it did, the point is that taking a bit longer and building to a more progressive style of play can be more beneficial in the long run than limping up playing pragmatic football that doesn't work in the league above.
  11. So when a player gets himself sent off for a reckless tackle, or the keeper drops it in his own net, it's still Warne's fault? Rubbish. Collective responsibility is and always has been a thing in football.
  12. It's so easy to just blame everything on Warne. And lazy. He picked a side that should be beating Crewe comfortably, but the players didn't bring enough quality or effort, the grown adult footballers we employ should have enough professionalism to be able to perform better than that, even if the tactics are suboptimal. Warne isn't faultless, but why do we let the players off the hook?
  13. I think it's fairly clear at this point that he just isn't the right person to lead us to where we need to be. Ipswich spent a bit longer in League One, but they built up with a good young manager and a good style of football and have adapted well to the league above. I have no data to back this up, but generally the pragmatic sides that get up don't seem to adapt as well.
  14. The damage was done agreed, but part of the frustration is that we could have provided a youngster with a bit of experience, but we threw on an aging centre half. Just seems a bit backward.
  15. I don't think we learned anything new about Warne tonight really. I'm still of the opinion that he isn't right for the club and is a limited coach and tactician. What I did learn however is that our players are extremely spineless and not capable of putting in back to back performances. The core of this team really needs ripping out, ironically for a squad built on "character" we have absolutely nobody with any courage in this team.
  16. But the manager has set out a team that is good enough to beat a league 2 side at home, we've hardly been overloaded with games recently. I think if the 11 put out tonight don't have enough to beat Crewe at home, that's their fault. We can't always blame the manager, sometimes the players have to take ownership of their own performances.
  17. Pep Guardiola couldn't coach these lot to a win tonight with this level of performance. It's not always the manager. Sometimes I get the Warne criticisms, but tonight it has to be on the players. Not good enough.
  18. Tonight is on the players. The team was comfortably good enough to win tonight, and the tactics and set up won't be radically different from the weekend. The difference is application by individuals. They need to look at themselves in the mirror.
  19. In Warne's defence, I would have to conclude the latter. I can't believe he has massively changed the way he's set up his team within a few days, the players are just completely inconsistent.
  20. Give the young players a chance, for f*** sake it can hardly get worse can it? Embarrassing effort from the players out there.
  21. We really need to give the youngsters a chance, they probably will inject much more life into this game than what we've seen so far. I'd like to see Weston on soon.
