  1. Draws are not great in this league, but an away draw at a solid team is not an issue if it's sandwiched between victories. Let's finish off January with a couple of wins and we'll be in a great position.
  2. In the league we haven't conceded a goal from open play since October. Since August we have conceded four goals in total at home.
  3. I think Derby are in a position to ask for over the odds. If he goes for a free in the summer so be it. I want him to stay, but if you're allowing contracts to run down then that's the inevitable risk. It's perfectly reasonable when we don't know what division we'll be in - although in NML's case I'd be offering him a contract either way.
  4. I'd be happy for Elder to be given more game time, but I'm not sure today is the right time. We've got Burton and Cheltenham at home in January - I'd be more inclined to rest Fozzy then if needed. I think Warne should be thinking short term of the next two games and picking the strongest side for each one. It'll be interesting to see what happens in terms of subs tonight if it's a close game.
  5. Time for a couple of subs. JJ, Thomo or Sibs all good options.
  6. I missed that. He very nearly said "Collo's left hand foot".
  7. Very strong half, but we should have a second goal to match our dominance. I'm never confident at 1-0 no matter how well we're playing.
  8. Great to see us getting men in the opposition box. If Collins had dummied, Kane would have had a tap-in.
  9. Brilliant first twenty minutes. Well deserved lads.
  10. What a great Christmas present - thank you Ryan. Let's get you playing back in the Championship next year!
  11. That'll do for me. I don't think it matters whether we start with Barks or Sibley - whoever plays the first sixty minutes will probably be pretty average than when the other one replaces them they'll be fresh and have more end product. Maybe it's a bit like rugby with starters and finishers? I just wish our starters would put in more of a shift in the first half. Tempo! I wouldn't object to Ward starting (so long as Nyambe is playing behind!), as Wilson seems another good option after sixty minutes but that would be a bit of a gutsy call and nobody can say Wilson doesn't deserve a start. If Nyambe isn't ready the selection will be interesting. I've not been to an away game for years and I'd have loved to go to this, but family calls... 😥
  12. I expect us to start with eleven players. 😇
  13. Pretty good results today which makes Thursday's win all the better. 🍻
  14. I think the recruitment has been fine. Is it only 18 months since we had five players in preseason?! We now have decent players in every position and back ups too. In normal years if you got three players that were better 'like for like' you'd consider it a good window. Nelson and Nyambe have sorted our defence. The likes of Elder, Ward, Bradley, JJ etc. make the bench look strong compared to most teams in this division. If we can pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat in January top two is on. If not next summer we'll improve again and top two will be a very realistic aim next season.
  15. We have a strong defence and are able to create chances, so top six seems eminently possible. I'm just not sure we have the cohesion to get top two - we'll see, I'll be delighted to be wrong on this. Three big games now - five or more points could set us up for the rest of the season. UTR
  16. Now Lincoln can go back to their original plan with something to defend, and put 10 men behind the ball. 😠
  17. He had two men as Barkhuizen let his man go then pointed at him as if Ward should somehow deal with both. Mindless tackle though.
  18. It's a disappointing day, but not a disaster. Hourihane had an off day, but I don't think he really has the legs to affect matches from a deep position. I'm not sure any of the team is a natural holding midfielder. I suppose Bird is the best, but there have been plenty of games when the game has kind of passed him by. Bird and Sibley were off the pace too - they didn't seem to find much space, yet still got caught out of position in transition. Let's just write it off as 'one of those days' and hope for more dynamism and fewer dumb decisions against Lincoln. UTR.
  19. To play three at the back so Ward and Wilson (relative to Forsyth) could push 20 to 30 metres further forward and NML could support Collins. I was happy with that switch at was more attacking and seemed to get us in and around their box more. I would have swapped JJ for Collins at the same time though. JJ seemed to be too deep when he came on.
