  1. I really like the poppy and what it actually represents, but I choose not to wear one because of how it's utilised by far right nationalists.
I doubt the club took down the display for any reason other than health and safety, but if they did happen to take it down for a different reason then surely that's their own prerogative and shouldn't have to face any kind of backlash?

  2. Haven’t posted on the forum in a long time but was extremely saddened to see the news about B4 on Twitter.

While I never knew Daniel personally, I used to recognise him at a lot of the away games and, on the forum, I looked forward to his weekly war cries. B4’s passion for Derby was always evident and I admired his ability to see the positives even at some of the darkest times in the club’s history.

Thoughts go out to Daniel’s family at this difficult time, he will be sadly missed by so many. RIP B4 🐏

Hate it when the wives get involved - it never ends well. My view of Chris Baird was changed significantly when his wife started having a go at fans on Twitter for saying that he'd been 'released'. Her argument was that he can't have been released if he left at the end of his contract, forgetting that that's what the word actually means in football.

Yeah, never ends well when players’ wives get involved with this sort of stuff. Seems like she has changed her bio again but the picture on twitter has still been seen by many, not that what she put was even bad. Doubt it could have any effect on a potential appeal by Keogh but probably best she keeps her opinions to herself for the time being.

  4. Has anyone noticed that on his missus’ instagram she changed her bio to “Wife to a professional scapegoat”. Obviously doesn’t mean to say that it represents Keogh’s personal opinion at all, just found it interesting.

Keogh was offered support - the club was offering to keep paying him (a reduced rate albeit) and he'd have access to our rehab/sports facilities. He refused to accept (his punishment, if you like for his part in his injury) and so the club has sacked him for gross misconduct (probably based on him being unable to now do the job he was contracted to and/or breaking terms of his contract).

He’s not actually done anything against the law or against club rules though has he? Sure, it wasn’t right of him to get in the back of the car with a drunk driver, but the accident wasn’t his fault seeing as he wasn’t behind the wheel. Keogh just made a poor decision (easily done when drunk) and has come worst off out of everyone!

I understand I am massively biased towards Keogh and it probably shows in my opinion on the matter, but hypothetically, if he was injured in any other drink drive related accident (say his wife was at the wheel), would he have had to take a reduced contract? Or is he being made a scapegoat here because of his status as club captain? I genuinely can’t help but feel like it’s the latter.

  6. As a 21 year old who’s been watching for 15 years this is all so sad as Keogh is my favourite player of all time. For a man with over 350 appearances and 2 player of the season awards to his name, the treatment Keogh has received from the club has been poor. From the day the club made their statement about the incident it’s clear that Keogh has been made a scapegoat, while Bennett and Lawrence were named in the squad to play Barnsley the very next day. Whatever your take is on whether or not it was right for Lawrence and Bennett to play, it doesn’t surely doesn’t sit right that 2 players should receive support from the club while one player has his contract terminated.

Now I understand Keogh was offered a reduced contract to stay at the club, but how do any of us know what was in this contract? Seen talk of half wages flying about and have no idea where this has come from. I can only guess that the offer must have been very poor from the club for Keogh to prefer to have his contract terminated over take the new contract.

Obviously, though, no player is bigger than the club and we have to move on. I can only hope that Keogh will come back to the club one day in some form. For now I can only wish him the best of luck with his recovery and rest of his career. Such a sad ending.

Yet you previously mentioned Lookman who is interesting Everton with a ÂŁ10m price tag? I don't see us spending that sort of money unless it was on someone like Afobe who is proven at this level and beginning to establish himself in the Premier League. For this reason I think Bournemouth will hold on to him so he's probably a non-starter.

I wouldn't be surprised if McClaren will be looking at the loan market in January rather than bringing someone in on a permanent basis.

Didn't realise clubs were looking at Lookman for that much in all honesty, I had seen him linked with Everton but I just assumed that it was paper talk and there was little substance to it. Given that they aren't exactly pulling up any trees in League 1 and their off the field issues I thought he may have been available for relatively cheap, but apparently not. If Charlton are looking to get that much for him then I wouldn't even consider him, he's really not proven enough to demand that sort of fee for a club like Derby.

Agree with you about McClaren looking at the loan market as it's something he's done in the past here.

  8. I might be alone here but I've always thought Brett Pitman would be a decent signing for us. Maybe he's not the prolific goalscorer that many people say we need but in order to get one of those we'd probably be looking at spending about £10m minimum, plus I feel like given the time Vydra will start knocking quite a few in. Pitman would definitely be a cheap alternative to Christ Martin.

Also, I think Ademola Lookman of Charlton would be a decent signing. Good youngster with good sell on value. Could argue we don't need another winger though.
