  1. For me it was a 5 or 6 out of ten performance. Simply because she was, like many refs at this level, inconsistent. She did not penalise players play acting, or a player ignoring an instruction. I don’t know what the yellow count was between the two teams but I doubt it reflects the true ratio of offences committed by each team
  2. @Tamworthram .. you didn’t miss anything. If there was a game you had to pass, this was it ! That said .. if this was our mid run blip then I am glad it’s out of the way now. Cathedral City we’re coming for you <insert panda emoji>
  3. Thing is she was picky, the decisions she did make were pretty much right but that doesn’t excuse that she missed two blatant hand balls, two examples of cheat diving, one nasty late trip that deserved a booking. Played advantage after another offence similar to a booking she gave against us, but took no action. Failed to book the substituted player who willfully ignored a direct instruction from her ( and grinning while he was doing it. ) Card happy, ruined what should have been a game of football. On paper it was an average league 1 performance but as a cogwheel in sporting entertainment it was a pile of rubbish. Detracted from the game and made mistakes to boot. This is not a gender issue. There are good refs and bad refs. This ref was as substandard today as we were.
  4. We weren’t good but at all, but Wycombe played ugly muscle bound football that we fell for. Funny thing is they had some strong, athletic, reasonably skilled players who, if managed in a different way could be powerful. Instead the just clod hopped us and cheated a bit. Add in a ref who gave them a level of tolerance that she didn’t afford us and it was always going to be difficult. Surprised Wilson wasn’t braver, there was something about their wingback that nullified him too often, he seemed uncharacteristically cautious. Collins worked himself in to the ground and for him held the ball up well. Curtis deserved his MOTM. JJ and Fornah made a difference, skill counts
  5. Yes, their No 10 faked an injury and dived after Sibs had tackled him cleanly. A deliberate and considered attempt to get Sibs sent off. Blatant cheating. Collins gave the guy a mouthful in support of Sibs and there was a bit of hand bags
  6. Yes but I still want their no 10 off for cheating ! horrible game so far. We have been suckered in. Need to breath and play our football
  7. Looking at those names I think Couhig is thinking of setting up a new Law Firm Grimmer Scowen and Low … has a great ring to it 😛
  8. This is so funny. Now I know we have our grammar police division, I try very hard not to join them (even though I know they’re right most of the time, certain “things” do grate 🤪, thing is I am with a mixed group of folk with diverse roots but for the most parts we all have similar brain cells. We also have no pretensions to grandeur or superiority or even claims to elevated knowledge . After all we are just folk who love talking about our club. Who we are, where we come from, our intellectual prowess is entirely secondary. THIS bloke is an effing JOURNALIST. He is supposed to be an informed, articulate wordsmith. It’s his flipping job ! I mean do you decide to be be a micro surgeon when you’ve got a manual tremor and visual impairment ? Dazza can’t write clear coherent English. How the eff has he got this job ? why on earth do we give him headspace or even a click ? A One legged man at an arse kicking party springs to mind. About as useful as a car park extension at Wycombe!
  9. I hope I didn’t miss anything of your story and that the surgery went well ? presumably, as you can still type things aren’t too bad. Get well soon ! I am sure you’ll be 100% with us on the airwaves 🍻🍻🍻
  10. Thinking about Cashin cover, do we know how Jake Rooney is getting on ? Regardless of necessary new faces I think Jake has a lot of potential
  11. So my “old girl” got a recall from Audi. 9 year old 3.0 Tdi Audi Quattro. Not sexy but a diamond motor that’s now at 95k miles and running like a Swiss watch. So off I go and get a free heater matrix fitted and they washed it. Top guys ! Thing is I am now on the Derby Audi data base so I got a Christmas email inviting me to treat myself to a present. So they tell me I can by an £85,000 Etron and the total monthly running costs are a paltry £ 154 … sign me up boys ! Then in the small print it says “certain costs associated with this purchase are not included in this estimate such as: deposits, insurance and finance costs” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. These guys take spin to another dimension
  12. Hey, that’s an opinion. Just as mine is. Perhaps you would have preferred Liam to stay, I also felt that at the time, but DC didn’t and it’s his dosh. He made what he thought was a sensible strategic decision. As it happens and on balance I think it was a good decision. I am more than aware that it is imperfect. But the dream of a manager who will take us to the top at first go from where we were, is just that: a dream and a theory. It rarely happens in practice, hence my desire for patience and stability. I would like to think I have acknowledged that my support would waver if we weren’t competing, but we are. No we aren’t running away with it, but can anyone either expect that or lay a foundation for that in just months ? I am sorry you felt the “extremist” remarks was directed at you. It wasn’t particularly. I simply tend to try and avoid those who have a fixed view on anything. There are a few on this forum who have a view and will never change it simply on principle. The Sibley 10 discussion or the 3 at the back or James Collins. I just don’t like engaging with unmovable objects. It’s a kind of fake moon landings scenario, 5G conspiracy thing and in the case of Collins it is destructive, not really accurate and in any case unhelpful to the team as a whole. I don’t mean to suggest this is you in any way, but say it to try and explain my mindset. I have a view that I hold strongly but it is changeable if the right degree of empirical evidence presents itself. As to Warne, it hasn’t, so for the time being I am onside. That doesn’t make me a guard dog
  13. I know you’re right but at least Gibson had real money and tangible assets rather than money lenders and complex financial “instruments” ( I.e lead weights added to the entity that is the club) but yes, they wanted us and went for us, it was vindictive and in cooperation with the EFL. Doesn’t alter the fact that Wycombe’s guy is a chancer, wide boy nobody without a single justification for his actions
  14. Really looking forward to this. Missed the cup game so it seems an age since it was match day proper. Then there is the added Wycombe spice. Want to see more of Kane Wilson. I think he could be just handful of games away from being a full on “danger man” that teams fear. He’s on the cusp. Will he make it ? Will we be passive or on fire ? It’s my biggest “thing” this season. I have been entertained in style one week and hugely disappointed the next. One week we stroke the ball and look dynamic, the next we seem to need 3 touches for everything and lack pace and aggression. The last 5 games have seen a marked improvement. Saturday and a clean win will be a serious statement of intent and confirmation that we can go to the places we want to go to. Who in the sick room is getting better ? If the gods are with us then PW might have some challenging but enjoyable selection decisions to make in January. If we all get fit and strong I believe we have a powerful squad with myriad options. Tommo, Washy, Wags, Wardy. WWW
  15. The weird thing in all this is I don’t see myself as a Warne Guard Dog. To be Frank I don’t like being inaccurately placed in a camp. I think his early season persistence with 3 at the back was hung on to for far too long. I thought he could have done better in the transfer window (but I also don’t know what wage and fund restrictions he had that might have negated the seeming attraction of DCFC to better L1/exChampionship players) I also know if we weren’t in the top half of the table and on an improving curve then I wouldn’t be that keen. There is also use of midfield, yet despite his weaknesses it’s Bradley who instinctively plays it out to the middle rather than the flanks. On the other hand, clubs that succeed are rarely ones that sack managers every 12/18 months so I am naturally supportive of a general stance that involves patience and giving people time. It’s not about removing or keeping PW it’s about a plan and a process. How long did it take Sunderland to get out of this league ? If I am a guard dog of anything it’s to protect a process and reasonable, rational action balanced with consequences of those actions. I also think we often fail to recognise how lower league football has changed. It has had a couple of peaks. The Setanta sport thing where serious money might have arrived - but didn’t, then pre Covid while lots of gamblers money was in the Championship (and I don’t just mean Morris ) since then many birds have come home to roost, there are a lot of sub PL clubs with allusions or delusions to or of grandeur, status and power that are seriously misguided.
  16. Yep ! You can kind of get Gibson .. felt done, bit spoilt, got in an anger groove very much like any of us when we get on a rant. It’s stupid from the outside with calm reflection, but when your in it you just can’t help yourself. The Wycombe guy is just a smart talking wide boy shyster who thinks he’s clever and was looking to score for himself to someone else’s disadvantage without a single ounce of fact, morality or sportsmanship. Cowboy opportunist. Did it because he could. Right or wrong doesn’t matter one jot.
  17. Yes Comrade, thank you . Your support has been noted for next month’s committee of summary judgment meeting, but don’t think for a second you will avoid any due nastiness. It is possible that I may relent and send you to Wycombe car park for a week rather than Middlesbrough’s board room toilets, but this is as they say, a one time offer. .. Be afraid, be very 😳 🤪
  18. A neighbour of mine was asked by his teenage son to “have a word with Mum” .. because she was always on his case at he Dads answer to his sone. You might think it’s Saturday, The TV says it’s Saturday as does the the calendar but if you Mum says it Wednesday … it’s effing Wednesday
  19. I agree, and to my embarrassment I get sucked in from time to time as wellThere are parallels with current political debate, everting has to be so polarised. I enjoy discourse, chewing the cud, weighing different views. In a sense it’s the concept of debate: being open to be swayed but also hoping to sway. The current “ bete noir “ seems to be Warne in or out. When it comes to this I think I get riled by folk being rigidly in one camp or the other. Why do we have to be in a camp ? I am not. I reckon Warne is pretty good but I am more than happy to chew over any failings (and he has them) but on a personal level I want to balance this with the positives. Not sure what to suggest but I tend to avoid interacting with what I see as extremists but I don’t always succeed (as my recent spat with May Contain nuts illustrates ! 🤣) yet I am delighted there is every view on show. It would be very boring if we all thought the same. Meanwhile get yourself in a camp, there’s no middle ground, there are subversive’s everywhere, we know we are right, Warne should go, Sibley is a 10, we have no ambition, the football is the worst I have seen EVER ! Or everything is going to plan, referees are faultless, all we need is a striker or to play the entire academy. meanwhile the rams say “no to bad language” while being sung to by the south stand boys choir that everything is black and white
  20. What was it you said about my original post ? Dear me. Hello Pot. evidence of what exactly ? That I disagree with you and challenge your opinion ? You seem very good at doling it out but then get all pouty
  21. I was patronising someone who said I was patronising them when I wasn’t, so I thought I’d patronise them anyway as I’d probably get away with it without sounding too patronising. If it keeps me out of trouble I think I might have been a bit ironic too.
  22. The reason is clear to me … If you want PR speak then that’s ok. If you want a manager who relates to real people then it isn’t. I would rather have Warne’s reaction, which was clearly humorous and honest; than some spoon fed insincere managed “content”
