  1. I’m not sure how calling this fixture a Championship one next season can be deemed negative. We are going up.
  2. Where else should I post? There are enough spam threads about. My opinion on Warne isn’t even that drastic. I’ve seen far worse on here. I apologise for having higher expectations and wanting to play a better brand of football. When you look at Plymouth and Sheff Wed struggling up there, it doesn’t bode well playing like this at League One level.
  3. Why? I think my points are valid. I’m confident we’ll get promoted and have been for a while. I’m confident we would struggle with Warne as manager in the Championship. Surely I’m allowed an opinion 🤷‍♂️
  4. Now that we are promoted, I hope Clowes is searching for our next manager this summer to give us a chance of progression in the Championship. I’d be looking at Mowbray’s situation once he recovers.
  5. This will be a relegation six-pointer next season in the Championship.
  6. Arsenal took 4 points off City and Liverpool this season, while City and Liverpool got two against each other. In the table between the three it goes: Arsenal 8 pts City 3pts Liverpool 3 pts Basically Arsenal gained 5 points on the both. If they don’t win the PL, they will have themselves to blame for dropping points elsewhere - notably against West Ham and Fulham. Liverpool have the best record against the PL’s lesser teams. I don’t see where they drop points in 2 or 3 of their final 9 games to allow City in. City still have Spurs and Brighton away, where they will drop points. Arsenal have them too, plus Man Utd away. Liverpool’s hardest game left is Villa away but their style of football will beat Villa.
  7. City weren’t good. Not sure why Arsenal didn’t go for it more, as a draw just makes Liverpool favorites now. Arsenal have the hardest run in of the three teams, while Liverpool have the easiest. Liverpool don’t have big Champions League or FA Cup games to go either. Liverpool will win the league and should win the Europa League too. A treble is a good send off for Klopp.
  8. Man City and Arsenal are so methodological, that when they play each other it turns into a standstill. The game at the Emirates was crap and only settled by a last-minute deflection, this game is worse. Liverpool are a much better watch in the big games as they are more chaotic.
  9. Forest’s existence up there is to make up the numbers. FFP basically restricts them from ever challenging for a top 7 spot let alone anything more. Today in Palace they were playing a side they wish to emulate. But at least Palace have the London factor to attract better players. Nobody will want to play for Forest unless it’s for stupid money and the rules evidently mean that isn’t sustainable.
  10. Ah the classic spin my words. You don’t half come out with some crap responses.
  11. We should try and emulate Belgium and Croatia and beat a good team. We may stand a chance of winning something then. Both Belgium and Croatia have proven they are contenders by knocking out other contenders. They both just ran into the eventual winners of the past two world cups - France and Argentina. The only reason Southgate is still in a job is because we avoided France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal etc. until the semi-finals in 18 and 20. Had we drawn any of them in the last 16 or 1/4 final he’d not be in the job today.
  12. Announce promotion already. I can’t believe how bad this league is and still only two teams look capable of getting 85+ points. Just when you think Barnsley could be challengers they go and get one point from 3 homes games against Lincoln, Cheltenham and Cambridge. Play like today against a Championship side and we lose 1-3. But it’s enough to just keep rolling out win after win in League One.
  13. This has 1-0 Derby, a goal from a set-piece written all over it. Blackpool look tiny.
  14. Belgium and Croatia both lost to the eventual champions. England didn’t.
  15. Hardly. I only say that about Germany at 2020 because they failed to get out of their world cup 2018 and 2022 group. The past six years Germany have been about as good as England were between 2010-16. Crap. England would have won Euro 2004 had Rooney not been injured and we beat Portugal on penalties. I’m sure of that. It’s not even a hate thing. I thought we were the better side against France in 2022. I just want us to beat a big name and prove we are good enough to win a tournament. Beating the likes of Ukraine, Sweden, Denmark, Senegal and Colombia is all good but it won’t win us tournaments.
  16. My original post states knockout games. But if you want to go that way, sure we can Argentina and Holland to the wins, and we can also add Portugal (00), France (04), Italy, Uruguay (2014) and Belgium (18) to the list - more defeats than wins. Belgium and Croatia have beaten Portugal, Brazil and England in the past few years. The crazy part is that they have more wins against top teams in the past 3 tournaments than England do in the past 15. When you factor in Iceland, Romania and the Euro 2008 debacle, we’re probably equally likely to lose to a team outside the top 20 as we are beating a fellow top 10 side.
  17. They were group games. What teams have we beaten in knockout football where you can genuinely call them a genuine contender? Ecuador, Paraguay, Colombia and Senegal? Come on. England should be beating them if we consider ourselves a contender for the tournament. On the contrary every time we come up against an Argentina, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France or Brazil on foreign soil in a knockout game we have lost. Croatia and Belgium have beaten more ‘contenders’ in the past two tournaments than we have in the past 15. Crazy.
  18. Doesn’t really matter. It’s only a friendly. England need a notch on their belt in a competitive game against a top rival. A win over Portugal or Spain in the 1/4 final would give everyone the confidence that we can actually win it. But what we will probably get is an easy run to the semi-final where we play a big boy and we unluckily lose, again, just like we did in 2002, 2004, 2006 with the last golden generation and 2018, 2020 and 2022 with this one. I’m 35 and the only big scalps we’ve had in my time is Spain 96 (at Wembley) and Germany 2022 (at Wembley and they were at their worst for two decades). 28 years (and 13 major tournaments) of properly watching England football and only 2 wins against big names in knockout football. Belgium have more than that over the past 4 years.
  19. Actually great play by Bradley. Suspends himself for the next 3 games. Our chances of promotion has just increased a little.
  20. Bristol Rovers away was our best performance of 2024. But it was in isolation. We have had more performances of this ilk as opposed to the one against Rovers. We just have better quality than most other opposition so we can get away with it by taking our chances. Nobody with a straight face can honestly say we play good football and dominate teams on a regular basis.
  21. This is a standard Warne performance. Not sure why many are surprised or throwing their toys out the pram. We play like this every week. The only difference today is we have missed the two good chances and they have taken theirs. So instead of 0-2, it’s 1-0. We’re not playing any worse than we did against Cheltenham, Stevenage, Charlton, Exeter or Bolton over the past month.
  22. Can’t be. The refs and EFL are always against us, just like they were against Reading the other week.
  23. Further argues the point that if you want to strip Man City of their titles after 2018 (when the charges go up to), then you will have to strip Leicester of their fairytale PL title too.
  24. How is it a jibe? It’s just a quicker way of describing his type of football.
