So many people are falling into the same trap as I did by arguing with a troll. This is the same person who said:

"It WILL take time to get back to glory days, (albeit I am of the opinion that our great clubs glory days at best would be a club challenging at the top end of the Championship)"

That's right. This particular poster thinks that's the best we can ever hope for.

I said that and I stick by it.

What is wrong with that opinion?

Every club has to be realistic in their expectations, and I don't think it is realistic to expect DCFC to reach the Premier League. That is my opinion. It doesn't make me a troll and for that remark, I have reported your post as I regard that as a personal insult.

No it doesn't.  Your argument was Derby are the worst team in history and I've shown that to be historically b*******.

And I have backed my argument up by saying that in the footballing climate in which we live; nobody really cares about lower league football. It's all about the Premier League of which historically; DCFC are the worst team in history making them the laughing stock up and down the country and further afield.

It doesn't though does it.  Your arguing we're the worst side in history and that's patently b******* as I've shown

Oh but it does. Nobody wants a divisional record. End of.

You can clearly get over it, but many can't.

What do Derby fans remember? What do Derby fans care about? Who gives a s*** what other teams fans think? Plus I think you exaggerate, why does it bother you so much that we have the record for worst points by a Premier League team - we were there. Why do football teams keep playing, shouldn't they be frightened about not winning?!

I'm a Derby fan and I care about our history. If we don't go up this season we will set a new (unwanted) record of 3 consecutive seasons in the third tier. Our lowest ever run.

Why does that 11 point haul get so much chat on here?

Oh, that must be because no one cares.

People remember the big winners, and certainly the most unwanted record.

It's still regularly mentioned by British commentators in Premier League games. It's a monkey on our backs that will simply never go away.

Ask yourself why on this very forum there is a new thread almost every season made discussing the hope that a team will actually break that unwanted record.

I doubt one dog s*** singular season is their only abiding memory of Derby County.

Trust me, it really is. People remember the big winners, and certainly the most unwanted record.

Well that would both.  There not the worst team, so can't be a standing joke

The Premier League is the most watched sports league in the world.

Derby County are the worst team in the most watched league in the world, therefore making them the worst team in history in their eyes.

I've lived over the other side of the world for 25 years, and football really doesn't exist outside of the Premier League.

You can take your Loughborough and Doncaster, but nobody really cares. They are non existent.

You go to any country in the world and are asked who you support and say Derby County, and they will likely reply with a jibe about their pathetic record in that 2007/2008 season.

They're not though are they.  As I've just shown.

I couldn't give a s*** what other fans say, they'd be wrong as I'd advise them.

Which bit are they wrong about?

Derby being the worst team in history, or Derby being footballs standing joke?

The lowest points total was 8.  Loughborough and Doncaster, both in Division 2.  Even with 3 points for a win Doncaster would have only matched Derbys 11.  The also have the record of 34 for most defeats in a season at a later date.

You ask any fans which team has the lowest points total and the answer would be Derby.

Nobody really cares for lower league football bar those fans supporting those teams.

Derby County Football Club are the worst club team in footballing history and quite rightly, the standing joke for all of the footballing fraternity. That is one record that we have to live with.

It seems however that some are more bothered about losing face over the possibility of not getting promoted this season.

  10.

So it starts; Yeah ok, we all like to make fun of Tottenham, but there are some REALLY bad teams out there… Derby, San Marino and a little team in Brazil are some of the WORST teams in HISTORY!

If we fail to get promotion this season, will the footballing world sit up and go OMG, Derby County have spent 3 SEASONS in League One?

No, of course not. Aside from a few disgruntled Derby fans, nobody would care. It wouldn't be written about and IMO, even most Rams fans would have forgotten about it the following season.

But being labelled as 'the WORST team in football history'....now that really is a monkey on your back that will simply never go away.

Granted, it's all about opinion, but I do find it surprising that some fans are getting their pants wet over the prospect of another season in League One as it will bring another unwanted stat.

In my opinion it’s a massive stat, but maybe that doesn’t count as you have appointed yourself as spokesperson for the entire Derby County fan base. Humour me and explain why spending the 2024/5 season in League 1 will be acceptable ?
Can you also reveal your first Derby game ? We know all about your entrepreneurial history but not your Derby County background?
    Cheers mate😂

You see this is the problem with this forum. Folks attacking one another.

So it seems you are actually asking me to justify my existence on this forum. Why?

We have NEVER spent three consecutive seasons in League 1 before.

So what. Hardly a big stat is it. I didn't know the stat, and I dare to say that most Rams fans wouldn't be aware of it either. It's one of those useless stats that people don't really care about.

  13. 9 minutes ago, RoyMac5 said:

You mean just because I totally disagree with your assessment of the clubs potential status?

If we aren't promoted this season we will be at a point in the Clubs history that it has never been at before. You do know that we have done most of the rest before, except maybe transfer embargo?

We have NEVER spent three consecutive seasons in League 1 before. Therefore we would be at the lowest point in the Clubs history. Which bit don't you get?

Forget the clubs history, the lowest points total was ANY clubs history.

I hear it mentioned in one form or another on an almost weekly basis and it happened donkeys years ago.

If Derby failed to achieve promotion, no big deal. There's always next season. It would hardly send shock waves among the footballing fraternity like that 11 points total most certainly did.

  14. 55 minutes ago, RoyMac5 said:

Whilst it will always be pointed out as an awful points total, the level we were playing at is much higher than we currently are at.

So the lowest point in the history of the club was the valid point being made.

Do you make it a point of generally being disagreeable?

How can non promotion of a club that has just been under a transfer embargo, with new owners and an almost entirely new squad be a bigger low point than getting the lowest points total of any other in footballing history?

You really are something else RoyMac.

Failure to be promoted would be the lowest point in the history of the club.

That 11 point season is arguably the lowest point of any team in football history. We'll always be ridiculed for that.

I don't see the failure of promotion as being a significant low point. Disappointing yes, but there are a certain degree of extenuating circumstances.

I am on the fence with Warne really, I don’t believe he should be sacked at this point, the league position is ok and he needs to be given more time with a squad close to full fitness. What is more worrying for me are the poor performances week in week out, aside from a couple of away games. The way most teams have come to Pride Park this season and totally dominated us to the point we look like the away side. There is no way our squad is that bad, to me it seems like we give the opposition too much respect, almost as if he’s still managing Rotherham.

Yes, Fleetwood at home was a case in point. An even first half and we go in 1-0 and I can only think that PW asked the players to protect what we have and prevent the opposition from scoring with little or no notion about trying to put the game to bed.

My biggest issue with PW is his sterile, negative tactics. He seems to want to build a team that has 2 or 3 moments in a game and then recently berates his team if we fail to convert one of those few chances that we create.
