Day
Hello Boys & Girls Today I bring you a problem with my computer mouse, last night I was doing my thing on the interwebs when suddenly my wireless mouse stopped working and the cursor vanished from the screen. My first thought was to call it a useless piece of **** and slam it down on the desk.....didn't fix it. Next thing I thought was the classic turn it off and on again.....didn't fix it. I then tried changing the batteries....computer said no I rang the missus, whilst you're in Tesco pick me up a mouse which she did, right tacky looking thing it was so I proceeded to give her abuse. She did apologise and to be fair it actually looked like she meant it bless her. Anyway I refused to use it until this morning, booted up my PC in the hope a few hours rest would solve it, nothing...so I unopened the wired tacky mouse and plugged it in, Windows downloaded the hardware files then nothing. No cursor on the screen or working mouse, so I tried the turn it off and on again, still nothing. I've got one of those touch screen PC's so I can still access any settings if any of you computer geeks want to troubleshoot it for me. I should also point out that the mouse came with a wireless keyboard as well and that still works and they both use the same USB stick receiver thingy. McRamFan
Try swaping the USB port where the dongle is, if that fails remove the dongle, reboot the system and then put the dongle back in. Check through Control Panel / Mouse to see if it has been detected. (use view by small icons, as its easier to find). It should show up in 'Connected devices' If not click the Hardware tab see what it says under device status and then click Properties, Driver tab, then see if there is an option to update driver. Let me know what you find
Day
I took the USB dongle thingy out and whacked in the USB mouse and it worked instantly, put the dongle back in and the mouse still worked. Took out the USB dongle and mouse then put the dongle back in and tried to resync the wireless mouse but nothing, whacked in the USB mouse and it works still. Hope all that makes sense, just ordered a new USB mouse, can't be doing with this wireless shizzle.

randombc
buy a new one? sounds knackered to me, my first point of call would of been to change the batteries, making try taking it back to where it's from, most of these things have like a 5 year guarentee, i bought one for my sister that has a 10 year guarentee, if not they may be able to fix it. You can get a new one these days for about £20 Could maybe try this as well [url=http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838398]http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838398

Deirdre_Barlow
To be honest, I'd have given up after the slamming exercise, if it doesn't work after that, chances are very slim of it pulling through. Thats what a doctor once told me anyway. He also said turning the machine off and on isn't a good idea.

GboroRam
sounds like a dicky mouse. Right click my computer, go to properties and look at device manager. Any exclamation marks (particularly on the USB stuff)?
