Don't mind the young ones with the parents - not too keen on the older ones in groups. Having said that, we've only had one trick or treater, little boy with his dad who MrRam works with. Don't know why we haven't had any more. 'Praps having the curtains shut and the hall light off has something to do with it. I agree with YR (for once 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> ). Trick or treat shouldn't be banned - for kids (the little kids at least) it's all about having fun, getting dressed up and enjoy for once the outside environment in the dark. (Under supervision of course).

I used to love it when I was a kid - and have no problem with going to the door with some sweets and being "afraid" by their cute little outfits. I've took my kids round knocking on doors too - but I tend to look out for houses which are dressed with halloween paraphinalia, like a pumpkin in the window or something like that.

I think though that after you get past 11 or 12, you should stop, I did. I deemed myself too old for it. It's different in the States, it's massive over there and it's took off massively over here - but if there's a market for it, the shops are going to supply it. Loads of kids these days are having their own parties. My daughter went to one last year at her friends house and it was held in their cellar, all decked up it looked incredible and they had great fun. Not a lot of parents would fancy doing that though.

If trick or treating is going to be banned for begging, then penny for the guying and carol singing should be too. It's nonsense IMO.

I do agree that pensioners should be left alone and that parents should either go along, or not let their older kids out alone. The police do provide stickers which state that home owners don't want any trick or treaters calling, that seems to work.

I can honestly say I've not seen an egg or flour or anything else pelted at any windows since I was a kid.

Are you giving ote to them Daveo? I'm sacrificing my haribo stash, I can't be arsed with clearing up egg off the windows. I've had about a dozen so far.

I'm sat downstairs facing on to the garden path. I'm only feet away from these monsters, they know I'm in and they know where I am.
