Asanovic
Why Nige supports Tampa Bay Rays? He's mentioned them in 3 or 4 interviews this season?!

p.shilton
No doubt it has something to do with GSE. That said, the majority owner sounds nuts! "In November [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Major_League_Baseball_season]2007, majority owner [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Sternberg]Stuart Sternberg made significant changes to his franchise's image, changing the club's name from theTampa Bay Devil Rays to the "Tampa Bay Rays", which he described as "a beacon that radiates throughout [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tampa_Bay_Area]Tampa Bay and across the entire state of Florida."[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tampa_Bay_Rays#cite_note-0][1] The teams' primary colors, formerly [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_(color)]black, [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_(color)]green, and [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue]blue, were changed to [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_blue]navy blue, [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_blue]Columbia blue, and [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_(color)]gold, and the team's symbol was changed from a [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_ray]devil ray to a ray of [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunlight]sunlight. The devil ray symbol, however, is still used on the sleeve of their jerseys, and there is still a tank of cownose rays in the outfield." From Wiki GSE certainly don't run the Rays, they only detail Derby and the Fort Wayne Wizards (who?) on their web site (also a pic of Derby celebrating a goal greets you on their home page with Savage, Addison, Pearson and Pringle pictured...!) Maybe there is nothing in it and Nige is simply a fan from Florida holidays. Or GSE are busy trying to get involved with the Rays and Nige is subtly letting us know what GSE or owners have been spending their time, energies and monies on rather than Derby? I think it is the former.

p.shilton
I can't find any info on who the rest of the owners are- If GSE only have a small stake they wouldn't put it on their site- besides, it sounds like they are sh*te so probably don't want people to know! I am convinced it isn't just because the Cloughs go on holiday there- epif they even do!

A small team (much like Derby) salary wise, but keep qualifying for the playoffs (unlike Derby!), this season ahead of the Red Sox. Certainly not sh**e and the Fort Wayne Wizards who they detail on their web site are not a major league team in whatever sport it is they play! Just read the first bit on wiki about them finishing at the bottom more often than not! Seems they have had a resurgence with a change of strip, name and logos.....Almost like they had an input from some kind of external management team, maybe advice on a new image, a different wage structure.
