Derby County is celebrating the success of their Academy by giving season ticket holders FREE access to a special under-18s fixture at Pride Park Stadium.

On Saturday 1st October 2011, the same day the first-team face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the npower Championship, Derby's young charges will face Sheffield United at Pride Park in the Premier League Academy.

The match is exclusive for season ticket holders and kicks off at 11am, giving fans plenty of time to travel to Leicester, for a late-afternoon kick off in front of the Sky Sports cameras (5:20pm).

Academy graduates Jeff Hendrick and Mark O'Brien have starred for Nigel Clough's team this season, bringing the spotlight onto the fine work which being done by Academy Manager Darren Wassall and his staff with Derby's stars of tomorrow.

Derby County Chief Executive Tom Glick commented: "Everyone is talking about how well Jeff and Mark have done for us this season and the great news is there is plenty more talent in the pipeline as well.

"This event gives our season ticket holders a chance to see, and support, the next generation of Rams stars playing on Pride Park, for free.

"Given our game at Leicester City doesn't kick-off until 5:20pm, as it is being shown live on Sky, there will be plenty of time, just over four hours, for fans to make the trip down the motorway to the King Power Stadium."

Ex-Derby defender Wassall, who took over as Derby's Academy Manager in 2009, hopes plenty of fans take up the offer: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our young lads to experience what it is like to play on their home ground, in front of our supporters.

"We are hopeful that a number of this current under-18s team will follow in the footsteps of Jeff and Mark and make an impact in the Championship and God willing, even higher.

"There is some great talent in our Academy and all the lads are inspired by the example set by Jeff and Mark."

Rams boss Nigel Clough says it promises to be an excellent day of football: "Supporters have a chance to watch our exciting crop of future players on the same day as our first-team, so it's a great double-header to look forward to and the Academy is integral to our plans for the first-team."

Season ticket holders will need to display their season ticket card at the Ticket Office on the day of the game, from 10am onwards, where they will be able to gain entry to the stadium to watch the match from the West Stand lower.

Season ticket holders with any queries or questions are advised to contact the Derby County Ticket Office by calling 0871 472 1884 (option 1) or by visiting the Ticket Office in person.

Clough has again made a call out to fans to attend the U18 match against the Blades U18 team. last season sheffield united U18s reached the YOUTHFA cup final. they will be a strong side. its free entry for season ticket holders. think the idea of that id to keep scouts away. derby tend to keep information about our youth players to a minimum to keep other clubs from poaching players. If you can why not pop along and see the game !
