Don't get me wrong, it pisses me off seeing perfectly healthy and able people parking in disabled spaces when I pop up to Alfretons tesco... But is there any need to make such a big deal out of something that happens every other minute by the public?

Over the top in my opinion.

Just out of interest (and my interest in this story is at its absolute end) - what happens if you forget your badge, or have a disability that isn't visible (there's a few of those, isn't there?) - would that make you a bit of a tw*t for letting someones tyres down?

A. people who are really disabled don't 'forget' their badges

B If their disability doesn't warrant a Blue Badge then they shouldn't park in a disabled bay.Let's face it they are easy enough to get hold of.

So.... I wouldn't feel a tw*t and haven't either! I've also blocked a few in too!

I think what make her kick off is that the club tried to make an excuse for him. If his thigh injury was that bad he couldn't walk far, he probably wouldn't be driving either.

In all honesty she was kicking off before, searching his photograph etc just not needed.

When this kind of thing happens, it's easy to feel angry. She's took one look at his shirt, recognised (rightly) that he's a pro footballer, put 2 and 2 together and made 4 and decided to make an example of him for taking the piss. It seems he didn't even fess up and see that he'd been an idle git.

Good for her, more people should do the same, perhaps then they might stop and think that a genuinely disabled person might need it more than he does.

I was asking a genuine question, as I don't know - thanks for clearing up.

I agree that it's wrong what he did - just not entirely sure it's newsworthy.

I think everyone realises a disabled person needs a space but it for me is too much fuss, so he was being a git, no need to act like that and she took it too far in my opinion.

well we will see who was telling the truth, my mind would actually be towards the footballer, she probably was so irate she thought she heard something which wasn't said.

Oooh, careful YR, a bit patronising there, wouldn't you say? Although, that's your opinion and fair enough.

In my opinion, she's the one who's done the right thing - maybe if more folk did the same, society today would be much better and more people would be considerate and kind.

Sometimes I think that's too much to ask of some people. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

not patronising, just that when people are angry they can mishear things or misinterpret things mrs ram 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I do it and so does everyone else 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />, maybe but i am not so sure, little things like this are a nuisance I agree, but to keep going on a minor incident to me is just a bit over the top, where as if she left it at "can you not do that again, it is inconsiderate" etc would have been enough.

Some people are just selfish, but there weren't any other spaces and he was reported running into the mcdonalds which suggests he wanted to go quickly, maybe because he was in the parking space to begin with.

Apparently...

In the UK there is a legally government laid down ratio of normal car parking spaces to the minimum required number of disabled spaces provided.

The minimum number is 2 marked disabled parking bays or 6% of the total number of bay must be reserved for marked out for disabled parking.

Up to 34 bay the requirement is 2 disabled, above 34 bays 6% of the total number of bays must be marked disabled.

This presumes that 6% of British drivers are disabled. ******. What you usually find is that the main car park is full to overflowing, and the disabled bays are largely empty.

What I've noticed in Leicester is that some of the disbled bays are in such remote places, you wonder how the drivers will get to their ultimate destination.

There is no such thing as a 'legally laid down ratio'....merely parking standards published by local authorities which planning applications usually to have to comply with.....the numbers vary according to the building type.

All these mother and child spaces are a self imposed design standards invented by the supermarkets.

i noticed that in Chapel st they set aside the entire ground floor for disabled parking requirements based on ratios. But later quite alot were then taken out again because disabled people don't want to park in Chapel St unless they fancy a good hike to Westfield.
