Southampton defender Dan Seaborne has been seriously injured after being assaulted outside a nightclub.

The 24-year-old was found lying on the ground with serious head injuries.

He was attacked in the early hours of Friday morning outside Junk nightclub in Southampton, Hampshire police said.

It appears the centre-half had been inside the city centre club with friends earlier in the evening and an argument took place.

The row then escalated outside and police were called to the scene at around 2.51am.

Seaborne was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Two men, aged 35 and 29, have been arrested in connection with the incident, a police spokesman confirmed.

i only found out last week that the Pink Coconut in Derby was no more!!

is Berlins still open?? saw Ted McMinn in there one saturday night. we must have played at home that day,or was he playing away? cant remember now

Ah, the Coconut.......memories, memories........that and the "Orchid" in Nottingham were favourite haunts in late 80's for us Belper-ites.

The Southampton lad should never have been within a million miles of Junk. Dreadful place in a dreadful part of town that makes the Coconut look like the Monte Carlo casino. Southampton has some unpleasant parts (what town doesn't), but they are easily avoidable.

The Saints lads used to hang out around the Leisure World complex, which is generally a bit more salubrious. Hope the lad makes a full recovery. :(

giving it the big i am,i suppose some of em do

Maybe he just got in an argument like "normal" people can. To suppose it was because he was a footballer "giving it the big I am" or that it was because of female attention is ridiculous! Blokes get their heads kicked in week in week out up and down the country and 99.9% of them aren't footballers!
