CheltenRam Posted May 29, 2011 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Can't recall the forum thread about a Derby Anthem or Song but I recall back in the 60s/70s we used to sing "Bless 'em all" Bless 'em all, bless 'em all The long and the short and the tall Bless all the corporals and WO ones Bless all the sergeants and their blooming sons We were saying goodbye to them all As back to their barracks they crawl You'll get no promotion This side of the ocean So cheer up me lads bless 'em all We also sang a 'bluer' version: F*** 'em all, f*** 'em all United, Leeds, Liverpool We are the Derby and we are the best We are the Derby so f*** all the rest I also thought of changing the words to 'The Derby Ram' seeing as the Derby County entry mentions it as our anthem: As I went down to Derby All on a Saturday I went to watch the Rams sir I went to see them play And indeed me lads It's true me lads I couldn't believe my eye They're the finest team in the land And I'm Derby 'til I die Pride Park is our stadium And Nigel is our king And when the mighty Rams play The whole of Derby sings And indeed me lads It's true me lads I couldn't believe my eye They're the finest team in the land And I'm Derby 'til I die I'm sure someone a bit more technically savvy than me can find the youtube links so you can get the tunes. I thought it was a piss take by the original poster until i realised the majority of you lot on here were'nt born then. We hate Nottingham Forest We hate Liverpool too (and Leicester!) We hate Man United but Derby we love you, altogether now................... every team had its own version but happily the first line was universal.. .[sIZE=1]only cos' its got the right amount of syllables though[/sIZE]. Never heard that Bless 'em all song though, although got to say there's probably a reason for that. I was thinking back to the old New Chant thread on the DET and all the songs on there - is there any way to get it back? Anyone got a way of getting in touch with Daz or Reverend or Goodfella or any of the other old moderators? There was one to Songbird and another to Cool for Cats that I seem to remember being pretty good which at a push I reckon I could recite anyway, but there were many more. Would be great if we could get the even older new chant thread from the old DET forum back too, but I think that's impossible. Anyone help? I'm not a big fan of it....... nobody who sits near me seems arsed........ noboady in the entire ground seems arsed. Don't understand what it is that people can't take to it. What has Never Walk Alone and Marching On Together, Forever blowing Bubbles, even Delilah!! Why do they stick and ours doesn't? What's it missing?
