You can only sign free agents outside the transfer window if they were free agents at the end of the transfer window. (or so someone said on another thread) That is right dav, I remember when Burton tried to sign David Johnson from forest when his contract was cancelled in late Feb but couldn't as he was still with forest when the window shut.
