Was all paper rubbish, just read the comments below aswell. There was never an official bid and when you were "rumoured" to have tried to get him on loan it was "rumoured" that Spurs were happy for him to go on loan although Bale didn't want to, can't blame him to be honest.

Also didn't Nigel Doughty recently say summart along the lines of most of the targets you had in the summer were Premiership players which you struggled to get in? can't find the direct quote as the NEP site is down at the moment.

If you had signed Bale and he was showing the same form then you can come and rub it in our faces, but to do it on the back of newspaper rumours, deary me you are clutching at straws from your mid table position.

Gunter & Bale are best mates. Bale had agreed to come to Forest Before Spurs had injuries at left back. Rednapp said so himself live on TV. A fee had been agreed. Billy does not like loans you can get that from the NEP site as well.

But alas it was not to be !

Midtable ha ha

your still looking then !

Vital Forest believes that Tottenham Hotspur left back Gareth Bale has turned down a move to the City Ground. It was hoped a deal could be done to bring the player in on loan, with a view to making it permanent in January.

It was always going to be a long shot and an ambitious one at that, to land a player that cost Spurs a reported £10m in 2007, but Forest had been tracking the talented Welshman throughout the summer and saw him as the ideal candidate to fill the problem left back area.
