Ken Posted October 3, 2023 Share Posted October 3, 2023 I think the reason we don't see the type of football that we used to see in the olden days is money related. Back then, there would be 22 players on the field who were decent footballers but without a big gulf in class between them, now you have more money involved in the game so on a regular basis you are facing teams who have either spent more than you or less than you, a player may be less likely to express himself if he knows that the opposition are more likely to punish him if he makes a mistake. You might have a point. 🍻 Too much fear of judgment, whether by a coach for “technical failings / not following instructions” or simply your own team mates. So much is getting lost in theories which continually makes a mental battle for instinctive players.
