Car accident advice

You need your insurance company to after the perpetrator.

In my experience, they don't fight your corner, and are quite happy for you to carry the can.

I got sideswiped by a Polish owned/driven HGV about 12 years ago on the M1 and I had fight tooth and nail to get my insurance company to go after the haulage firm (I had photographic evidence of the drivers licence and insurance certificates at the scene).

My insurance company were quite happy to pay me out on MY policy, (with me having to pay the excess and losing my NCB), but I told them to 'feck right off', and insisted they persue the lorry firm. Took ages, but got there eventually, with the result it was also logged as a 'no fault accident'.

The only damage to the lorry was a couple of scratched wheel nuts!

How's that a write off? Unless you have chassis damage, hard to see how they have come to that conclusion.

As for the police, they need a case handed to them on a plate to be remotely interested.

Wouldn't expect anything to come from that.

Yes chassis is damaged. They told me the price I could buy it back as salvage for but recommended against it as structurally it’s f****d.

The only plus is they’re paying me more than I bought or for 18 months ago.
