Cisse Posted April 13, 2023 Share Posted April 13, 2023 Rally driver Craig Breen has died in tests before the Croatian rally. Somehow I wasn't expecting the drivers to die at this level anymore. No matter how much is done for safety, and is still to do, motorsports are dangerours and always will be. I've not watched the footage and have no intention of doing so. Rallying had to a lot of work to improve things after the 80s Group B days, partiually in terms of fan safety and reducing the length of special stages and having the events more "compact" to allow better emergancy and medical coverage. However, taking a high powered race car to the limit over rough raods and tracks with all nature's barriers present can never be risk free. Craig was likeable, talented and seemingly set for a long careeer in WRC having worked his way from bit part drives to a full time drive. A quick search on youtube will find you a number of tribte videos that say everything better than I can. However, just this clip of a few seconds after a stage in my mind says so much. RIP Craig.
