Nugent was hoping for a return to the Premiership having been relegated with loan club Burnley FC last season and watched his parent club Pompey follow them into the Championship. It also appears that Blackpool are no longer interested as boss Ian Holloway is closing in on a deal for Leicester City striker DJ Campbell.
