Why is he too afraid to play attacking football?

I really think that GR doesn’t actually know how to play attacking football. He is obsessed with having a minimum of 6/7 outfield defence type players which means there is only room for 3/4 attack minded players. If four, it’s usually been made up of Lawrence, vydra , weimann and Nugent and this simply isn’t good enough when you want to break down a defence who are sitting in.    Defences do sit in especially when your sitting second place in the table. From there our game plan was known and hence the slide down the table. It’s been to easy for opposition managers.

That said I really must start asking the question but did Hughes , Ince actually leave because of our finances or were they completely against the type of football they new was coming. You can probably put Russell into that category of not wanting to stay because of the robotic football Rowett wants to play. The bigger picture is worse than not making the play offs as I can’t see any young talented footballer wanting to come to derby knowing his first duty would be to defend. Yes has a player you must be mindful when the opponent attacks but sometimes as a Manager you’ve just got to let talent play but Gary Rowett doesn’t allow that to happen.

We dont have the players to play skilful attacking football.

We dont have the players to play aggressive in your face football for a decent length of time in a game.

We dont have impact players to come off the bench and change a game.

Weve seriously downgraded a lot of positions over the past 2 years.

The truth of the matter is that the squad isnt good enough.

That Boro side and squad are a step above the Derby one, and they've found a manager to get the best out of them. Having parachute payments help.....

Good to see the occasional sensible comment.

We dont have the players to control a game, when was the last time we controlled a game. Plus we have none existent wingers, They are the focal point with an attacking side. We also can't defend very well, our good run conincided with lots of chances given to the opposition.
