When you hear the name Rooney you instantly think of Manchester United and England striker Wayne, but there is a Rooney II. John Rooney is the younger brother of the England star and the 19 year-old will be coming to Derby County this week to train with the Rams.

John is currently playing his football with Macclesfield in league two but with his contract due to run out in the summer a move to the Rams may be on the cards if he is what Nigel Clough is looking for in midfield.

The Rooney brothers share a house in Prestbury, as it is central and easy access for both Manchester and Macclesfield.

John also has International hopes but unlike his brother Wayne, John hopes to play his Internationals for the Republic of Ireland. A move to Derby would further his International hopes.

Both Wayne and John started their career with Everton in their youth squad, John moving to Macclesfield to gain his first taste of League Football in 2008 before going on to play 33 games for the Silkmen and scoring three goals along the way...

Think if he was playing anything like his older brother he wouldn't be still with the Mac lads would he.

He's worth a punt though, maybe a figure head like Clough can bring him on abit. Our training facilities will encourage him if nothing else.

Exactly, I have no problems with Clough going for youngsters from the lower leagues and try and bring them through to the first team, although I can't get excited because his surname is Rooney and he so happens to be the brother of the world's best striker (in my opinion of course).

from what i have seen on the net and footy league show, hes a fairly decent midfielder at that level, will he be able to step up, who knows, i would never of called him a goal scoring midfielder, but then hes scored more than pearson this season so maybve you can

he has a lot of potential, wether hell be able to utilise it is another thing

and he wont be good enough

I've got a funny feeling you maybe right Dangerous, if the lad comes he'l come with an expectation from the fans again because of his surname.

Didier Drogba - World Class

Joel Drogba - *****

Samuel Eto'o - World Class

David Eto'o - *****

Wayne Rooney - World Class

John Rooney - let's see

Also he is only coming to train for a week, if he had even 20% the ability of Wayne not only would Clough of signed him up without the weeks training, but a whole host of clubs would be trying to get his signature.
