And getting tubes tied is a lot more complex. And you can always have a vasectomy reversed. I'm the product of a successful reversal, so my dad ended up having it done twice. Also, most of the horror stories I've heard are from people who have had it done 10+ years ago. I think it's a lot quicker and easier these days compared to what they've been telling me.
