That's how I see it.

If Brighton or Wednesday had a mass overhaul in the summer we'd be scratching our heads asking why they don't just build on what they had.

In short the answer to your post is 'cus Leicester'

We're not facing a major overhaul, we're changing our style of play. This requires a slight change of personnel, (albiet popular players).

Wednesday and Brighton haven't had three attempts at promotion with a very similar squad and rigid inflexible style of play. We're restricted by nostalgia and the rapidly fading glory of getting to the play-offs whilst playing gorgeous football. We've not done it consistently since then though. We tried to build on it with a similar squad and the same manager, and tried changing the manager last season as well, to no avail.

If there was ever a time for change, now is it.

How many good teams alternate style of play?

Still stand by exactly what I said 3 weeks ago. He's taken us backwards.

You said we needed a striker, a winger and a right back and we signed 2/3 of those, so you think a right back would have made a difference tonight?

Can't blame Mel for what happened on the pitch tonight.

No the gist of my original argument was that all the money we've spent hasn't improved the side. We're actually worse off for it. Bad decisions taken at every level of the club and nobody's taking any responsibility.

Mel is in a no win situation if we are not winning. He gives his managers money, like he has, and he gets called for wasting millions on rubbish. He tightens the purse strings and he gets called tight and we should be buying better more expensive players. He has been in charge of the club for 16 months. Some times it just needs a bit of time to click into place. He is still learning but he is doing what he thinks is best for the club but not everything will go to plan.
