V-Force Farewell

No idea if there is anyone here interested but tomorrow afternoon the sole remaining Vulcan is flying over East Midlands Aeropark as part of its farewell tour.

This year will be its final year of flight so the crew are flying over all the sites in the country that have a static display Vulcan, Victor or Valiant.

Have always loved the Vulcan, have fond memories of when I was growing up in Helston, Cornwall when it used to perform at Culdrose air day, such a beautiful aircraft that made an amazing noise.

Gutted they can't continue flying after this airshow season.

Aw wow, didn't know it was flying such a large area, I thought it was just going to be in the East Midlands area. Thank you for the info, I hope to see it between Hendon and Duxford, we see quite a few planes either from North Weald or Duxford during display season, the camera will be at the ready, thanks again.

Was a fantastic display, all the talk the last week was on what they would do with the general consensus being it wouwould just be a runway fly past. Thankfully that wasn't the case and I assume because the fuel level was low it allowed then to chuck the old bird around a bit.

The Aeropark and surrounding areas were packed.

This is why I've been thinking governments should be giving money to keep aircraft like the Vulcan flying, they give money to the arts, why not preserve great British icons like this to inspire the next generation of engineers, pilots and designers oh wait, we've got to send money to countries with their own space programmes and nuclear capabilities. :(

I agree. They give money to some awful projects in the name of art etc but refuse to help with historical icons like this.

It's a shame that so many Vulcans went to waste and thus reduced the number of serviceable parts.

Amazing story. Bombing tech run by cogs and chains, not having a map of the southern hemisphere so used a flipped northern map, losing their position and nearly running out of fuel. Bravo!
