South Stand

Derby County’s attempt to make the Total Hire South Stand a ‘home fans only’ stand at the iPro Stadium is continuing to gather pace.

As supporters will be aware, the Club introduced the ‘South Stand Project’ at the beginning of the 2013/14 season following consultation with a number of supporters regarding the matchday atmosphere at the Stadium.

As a result the Club were able to move home fans to part of the South Stand in time for the start of the campaign, with 2,000 supporters relocating their season tickets to that particular area.

The Club is now looking at taking the next step in the project and recently revealed its desire to have 4,500 fans situated in the South Stand to build on what has already been achieved.

This would mean relocating away supporters to the South East Corner of the stadium due to a combination of factors namely accessibility, Football League away allocation rules and guidance from the relevant authorities.

A letter was sent to 3,800 fans that would be affected as a result of the potential move a few weeks ago and the feedback, via an online survey, produced an overwhelming response.

98% of fans were in favour of the Rams pressing ahead with their plans and Derby is now awaiting formal approval from the Safety Advisory Group and Derby City Council on the matter.

Derby County’s Chief Operating Officer John Vicars said: “It goes without saying that we have been hugely impressed by the increase in the level of noise and atmosphere that has now been created and the feedback from all areas of the stadium has been extremely positive.

“As a Club we are eager to continually improve the matchday experience and do all we can to give the players the best possible chance of being successful.”

He added: “The fan consultation is a huge part of our decision making and it is great to see the vast majority firmly behind this proposal.”

The Club will provide further communication to supporters shortly following ongoing dialogue with the Safety Advisory Group.

LOLathon!

The letter actually stated to ONLY get in touch if you opposed the move, so it's probably more accurate to say that 2% of people who opposed it felt strongly enough about it to make a stand – rather than 98% supported it.

I'd say that there are probably a  lot of people in that 98% who don't support it but didn't bother to respond because they forgot or just realised it was futile
