stan_essex
OS reports that Eranio is visiting in November. Is he being lined up for the coaching staff maybe?? Here's the story from the OS: Former Italian midfielder to make a return to Derby County in early November. Rams legend Stefano Eranio is due to make a flying visit back to Derby County next month. The Italian midfield maestro, who is now 46, made 108 appearances for the club between 1997 and 2001 after signing from Serie A giants AC Milan. He was a popular figure with supporters and secured his place in history by scoring the first official goal at Pride Park Stadium in August 1997, in a 1-0 win over Barnsley. In all he scored 10 goals in a Derby shirt before returning to Italy to play out the latter years of his career before starting his coaching career at AC Milan in their youth set-up. Head Coach Steve McClaren, who was assistant to Jim Smith when Eranio first arrived at Derby, said: “Stefano was a joy to coach and it will be fantastic to see him again. “We’ve invited him to come and watch training whilst he’s over and it’ll be great to catch up with him again, and I understand the fans are extremely excited to meet him so I’m sure it’ll be great for them too.” Eranio is due to stay in Derby between 6th and 9th November and has a number of events with the club scheduled into his diary during that time. On Thursday 7th November, Eranio will meet the Rams supporters in an exclusive signing session in the Digonex Ticket Office between 3:30pm-4:30pm, before attending a corporate function later in the evening with McClaren, which is being staged for all club partners and box holders. The former Italy international is due to take up the invitation to visit McClaren and his coaching team at the Derby County Training Centre as well taking in the Rams’ Sky Bet Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday 9th November as the Rams’ special guest. Prior to the game against the Owls Eranio will be visited the corporate areas of Pride Park and a special hospitality package is available, allowing fans to enjoy his return and the match in style. The package costs £99 + VAT and includes: ·* Q&A session + photograph/autograph opportunities with Stefano Eranio · * Reserved car parking spot · * Two course pre-match carvery meal · * Reserved balcony match seating · * The chance to take part in matchday competitions · * Complimentary copy of The Ram & matchday teamsheet * A * Appearance from Derby’s Man Of The Match after the game To book your hospitality spot or to discuss the package further, please call 0871 472 1884 to speak to a member of the Hospitality Team. McRamFan
Could see him take over the Youth set up, imagine what contacts he has, could be a feeder club for AC Milan / Liverpool / Man U / whoever else Will Hughes has been linked too. Jim Smith is far too busy getting through copious bottles of red wine with Fergie
Srg
Whilst I love Eranio, and wouldn't mind him at the club in some capacity, his record of being sacked as a coach is a bit iffy.
