Day
Say you buy an old film before the days of HD, a film like Top Gun or Goodfellas, what's the quality like, is it worth the extra few quid or can't you tell much difference from the standard DVD? davenportram
Star wars blu-ray is much sharper and cleaner than the DVD. But I don't know if they did any remastering for the Blu-ray The original cinema film is shot in higher definition than Blu-ray so the picture quality should be better on a BluRay version than on a DVD because the definition isn't reduced as much Plus blu ray offers Better sound too
ladyram
I can tell the difference, the picture has better clarity and the colours stand out more.

davenportram
Sound through the telly is good too - we got rid of the speakers and can still tell a difference
Shuff264
Because it was filmed in proper film and they downgraded to dvd/video it should be higher on bluray
Srg
Usually on wikipedia it tells you what it was filmed in... gives a good indication of just how much better it might be.
