mozza
i'm a happy chappy today , was turfing out my loft , and managed to find all my old programmes and memorabilia from matches i attended dating back to 1969 , including all the 'Ram' newspaper editions for our 1971-72 Championship winning season . Also found was the programme for Gresley Rovers v Guiseley FA Vase Final , plus the Bramall Lane replay programme , great games they were . The greatest find , however , which i thought i'd lost forever , was the original Derby County Football Book , my bro , Steve , worked with Tony Bailey's dad , Stan , Steve asked Stan if he could get Tony to sign the book for his little brother (me) .. Tony did me proud , he not only signed my book , but got the whole squad , including Brian Clough to sign it also.. it was signed on the 27th February 1971 at a 'Steak Dinner' that these Derby County Staff attended.. Jimmy Gordon , Dave Mackay ,Brian Clough , John McGovern , Kevin Hector , Les Green , Archie Gemmill , Roy McFarland , Alan Hinton , Tony Bailey , Alan Durban, John Richardson , Barry Butlin , Ron Webster , John Sims , Colin Boulton , Colin Todd , Alan Lewis , Peter Phelan , Peter Stone , Peter Daniel , Ken Blair , Jeff Bourne , Dave Toon , John Sheridan , John Robson , and John O'Hare.. there is one signature that i cannot decipher ( it's not Peter Taylor) , if you've any idea who it could be , let me know i will make an attempt to get these signatures posted on here , but don't hold your breath I wonder what sort of value could be put on an acquisition like this ? Please feel free to add your comments on these heroes from our not so distant past.. *footnote* rumour has it , that Brian 'ordered' all who attended to sign.. mo55y.. Brammie Steve
That's fantastic news. I bet everyone wishes they had such a wonderful, super-kind brother who would do that for them! And he got you Ziggy Stardust anorl!
Brammie Steve
As for Tony Bailey, Sir Brian got him from Burton Albion and he was a regular in the reserves. The agreement included a clause that, should Tony get. First team appearance the Rams would play a friendly against the Brewers. Tony came on for a first team game later in the Championship winning season and Derby paid Burton £1000 in lieu as they were rather busy winning the League at the time. Big money for a non-league side back then.

Brammie Steve
This has got to be the fastest time for a thread to go off topic. I share the joy of finding the DCFC book number one with a list of the playing staff going into the greatest season in the club's history which we thought was gone forever! Colin Todd had only signed for Derby a few days before and took over the coveted number six shirt from the legend Dave Mackay. Toddy was the finest player I ever saw. Now, how about those thoughts about players featured in this precious volume? Please.
