Don't we have a strong following over-seas from our Clough years? You are only as big as your bank balance, I'm afraid! Man City picking and choosing Arsenal players is a prime example of this. Look at it this way, lets say a multi billionaire is looking to buy a club and money is no object. All clubs in the English league are for sale for the same price. Would they choose Wigan over Derby? Of course they wouldn't! As success will come with the investment that is bought into the club. Erm how is it ludicrous? So by your statement Genoa are a bigger club than Roma, Lazio and Napoli then? Afterall they've won the top flight 9 times.. Too bad their last win was in 1923. And Nuremberg in Germany are bigger than Leverkusen, Dortmund, Schalke and Wolfsburg as they've also won it more times than the rest.. Again too bad their last win was in the 1960's The point is, trophies are historic, it has nothing to do with the size of the club.. And as for the Wigan/Derby buying comparison.. Do you honestly believe that? No-one will come in and say, you know what, Derby have more potential thn Wigan as it's rubbish.. What can Derby achieve that Wigan can't? Absolutely nothing.. Fans in the stadium mean nothing.. If that was true, why didn't Newcastle or Arsenal get taken over instead of Man City or Chelsea.. Why did they take over Malaga when they get gates of around 23k, Atletico Madrid and Betis get 50k each.. Why Malaga? And why PSG when Marseille are the most supported club in France? As an American term, a bigger franchise means a bigger team.. A bigger franchise will always have more fans worldwide, more buying power, a bigger name, the best sponsorship deals and more money.. Be very Interesting to see where we fall on this list if it was done over the last 5 years. Our Support at Home & Away games is one of the best in the League & we certainly have a PL Stadia & Training facility's . We're like the Tottenham of the Championship. Always under achieving?!
