Ah the much maligned Rowett who has a load of League one players, our cast offs and Wallace whose pretty decent in 9th place.

    Glad he's not here anymore.

Thank you for the cast-offs!!! It's not often you get a decent Championship players for free or less than a £500k, let alone pick up 3 decent Championship players!!!

Brentford commentators were full of praise for Malone today, and easily one of our players of the season.

    Got anymore?

You'll probably stay up if Rotherham don't win tomorrow, 10 games in 28 days is a lot for a squad the size of Rotherham to go through. I'd be concerned for now though, but I don't see Rotherham getting enough points to trouble you. My 2 cents worth, then again I thought you'd be in play-offs this season, so what do I know.

The reason he played down the middle as a striker, he was physically stronger, bulkier and faster than kids around his age. Around the same time he debuted, you’ll find reports of scoring 2 goals for England juniors and that he was being watched by a host of premiership teams. Such was the reputation he was fermenting. What I believe led to him going out wide, was he had pace but seasoned pro’s learned his trademark was a kick and rush or shoulder barge.

Sounds like Troy Parrott; came to us this year with a huge reputation at youth level. Was honestly one of the worst loan signings we've had for a while.

The conclusion I drew from Parrott's hype was that he was physically bigger than all the other players at youth level (remember Champ Man Legend Cherno Samba?!?!) so he looked better than he actually was.

The striker we got on loan, had poor ball control, lacked game intelligence to get in the right places at the right time for those easy Ruud Van Nistelrooy goals, and lacked the physical strength to hold up the ball. I think we would be in and around the play-offs if it wasn't for Parrott, we played 10 games effectively with 10 men.

You can see him at Ipswich now, struggling in League One with only 1 goal in 25 professional football matches. I would be surprised if he ever made it in the Premiership, maybe a decent Championship striker.

You would think that the people involved in youth set-ups would be realising this (especially after Cherno Samba), and preparing players as such to work on their all round game, rather than just hoping their physicality will transfer to mens football.

He has 6 now I believe - more than Marriott Waghorn and Lawrence put together - a lot cheaper as well

6 over the course of the season, but he was put out wide as a left winger for the beginning of the season. He's now playing up top as a number 9 so to speak, hence the recent spurt in goals being scored.

Due to our other strikers being League Two standard, and Zohore being crocked (also not very good). Rowett has decided to play Jed Wallace and Mason Bennett up top in a 3-5-2 formation, leading to him scoring 5 goals in 12 matches. They've struck up a decent partnership, and who knew that Bennett was actually a good poacher in and around the 6 yard box. If we carry onto next season with Wallace and Bennett up front, and he stays fit, then I'd expect him to get 12-15 goals if he continues at the current rate, which would be unthinkable for a Millwall striker in the Championship. Not sure that has happened since Steve Claridge in 01/02.

Talk of Malone being our player of the season as well, the system definitely suits his skillset.

We've done well out of Derby County over the last 2/3 years in terms of value for money (although Alex Pearce is long past his best at this level now).

  4. 5 goals in 12 games as an out and out striker for us, not a bad return. He seems to be getting in the right places at the right time, also has a good leap on him for a smaller striker. Would be happy to see Bennett and Wallace up front for us going into next season. If Bennett can stay fit, then reckon that would be a partnership to knock on the play-offs.

Still not completed a full match though, although he was taken off on the 92nd minute in one match so we could time waste, so you could give him that one.

Do you have any more players you want to offload to us on the cheap?

Bennett is a plank, a rubbish footballer and an even worse person. You would do well to get shut of him as soon as an offer from some non league team comes in for him.
the other two are decent players, particularly Evans and I’m sure they will do well for You.
good luck for the rest of the season, have to say I really like your club, best away trip in the league too.

Shame if Evans becomes injury prone; hopefully he's over any problems as he was different class today to everyone else on the pitch. Was picking passes out all over the place from the back, one pass was on the half volley, pinged it out to our right winger. It was against a poor Wycombe side though, but he played well in previous games as well. Millwall fans rightly lavishing him with praise after today.

Agree with Bennett; I think he's done well for himself in life given his lack of quality. I think we'll be his last Championship contract, he's an okay Championship player when he's at his best, wouldn't mind him if his salary was one of the lowest in the squad but I suspect that isn't true.

Malone has been steady. Decent Championship player, nothing special, nothing atrocious, been a good addition for ourselves this season, and gives a 7/10 performance every game at least. A completely different player compared to when we had him when he was 21/22 though. (His goal against Sheffield Wednesday was Gascoigne esque

I'll  be moving to East Midlands in September to one of your neighbouring cities so happy to see Derby stay up for an away day (if we're allowed back in the grounds). A lot of teams to visit around that area as well so hoping Rotherham/Huddersfield get releated, although I think Sheff Wed/Rotherham will drop with Wycombe.

  6. Millwall fan here; signed up after we signed Mason. Bored during lockdown hence the post.

Mason is a bang average Championship player and nothing more than a rotation option at this stage; we'd probably be stronger if we spent his wages elsewhere. Heard that he's only completed 90 minutes twice in his career which is an outstandingly shocking statistic. Can see why Derby were happy to get rid of him.

    The other two players we've taken from you;

Scott Malone - had a solid season, one of our better players this season, and very consistent. Scored some important goals and not looked out of place in any games. A decent Championship player.

George Evans - Class, pure class. What a signing he's turning out to be. Not sure how he was rated at Derby, or why he has been let go. To be honest, I had never heard of him before we signed him. Some of his passing from the back is a joy to watch and hasn't looked out of place when it comes to the defending side either, got man of the match today all be it against a terrible Wycombe team. One of the first names on the team sheet and he's only been here for a month.

My prediction of Derby making the play-offs didn't come true.... Maybe next season, why hasn't Sibley kicked on though? He looked like a wonderkid against us last year when you beat us 3-2.
