Greece and Cyprus is the best example - they always give each other 12 points.

I seem to remember we used to be able to bank on at least a few points from Ireland, back in the day.

Yeah I was saying to the wife that we should get at least a sympathy point from Ireland and/or Australia... guess we pissed them off with Brexit too.

The friend votes are fascinating.  Azerbaijan praising the Russian bear, Moldova receiving support from global rivals, fun and games.

Loved that when the Cypriot presenter was doing the whole "pause for suspense" before announcing who their jury gave the 12 points to, the entire crowd were shouting "GREECE!". Half the fun of Eurovision is the political voting at the end. Almost a game show in of itself.

Ever played Rocket League? Easy to jump back into after some time away. The only things you earn/pay for are cosmetic, so you're on a level playing field with everyone else from the off.

Quite easily the most infuriating game I've ever played.

anyone play CS:GO? looking for a fifth man as sick of queuing with 4 and then a randy who throws the game.

Play at between MG-LE rank, Mirage/Cache.

    Play faceit aswell as comp.

I started to play but only ranked SEM. Was going to play a lot more but a UT Pro League has started which has taken my focus away from CSGO unfortunately. After the UT League, I'll look to start up playing CSGO again but will need to rank up a fair bit.

I’m talking an official game through Steam

Got you. The abandonware ISO is about as close as you can get, unfortunately. Still a top game even after 18 years. I remember playing the CM01/02 demo that came out of a box of cereal.

Funny that you have Football Manager adding more and more each year to try and make it more in depth and realistic, yet ask most and they still consider the old Championship Manager series the best. Simple and addictive.

I would pay £30/40 for an official retro Championship manager game which had the original squads plus an option to use the latest 18/19 squads. Computers these days would run it a doddle. Charge a small fee each year for the up to date squads and you’re on to a winner.

There's always a new update with all latest transfers. Just need the Sawczuk update, the Tapani patch and then you can install the latest database.

found a new tutorial video which showed me to find something in Task Manager which prevented it running Setup. Having a look now.

Fingers crossed you get it working.

yeah, I managed to download it once, played a game, but couldn't save it. Left it a while and tried again on a different laptop and struggled to get it to open.

For some reason the game will not install on my PC which is running Windows 10 and thought I'd try it on a virtual machine I have, which is also running Windows 10, and it worked perfectly fine. One thing I have noticed is that the saved game file doesn't appear in Windows Explorer but the game can see it with no problems. I've left the game un-patched for now for ultimate nostalgia.

how/what platform are you playing it? Laptop? Did you use the free download?

I'm playing it on a virtual machine on my PC and yeah, I used the free download from champman0102 website. I believe Windows has a built in ability to mount ISO images now so that's one less thing for you to worry about. Have you got the itch to play it again?

I think Steve Elliott is pretty good in that game

His stats are really good to be honest but my back three are Risp, Vaschuk and Nowotny so there's no space for him. Even my backup centre backs are Mexes, Cristante and Riggott.

Current Derby team in my CM01/02 save

     -----------Nigmatullin------------

    ---Risp----Nowotny----Vaschuk---

    -------Said------Juan Gomez------

    -------------Dalmat----------------

    -------Aimar-----Selakovic---------

    ----To Madeira------Vieri-----------

that game is legendary, but I could never get it to run on my laptop (the free to download version). I can remember all the legends, my most loyal player being Steve Torpey (AMLC) who was consistent 8/10 even if his attributes didn't suggest he would be that good. I think Ben May, Matt Blinkhorn, Justin Georcelin, Chivu, Mike Duff, Alan Smith, Defoe, Saviola, Julio Arca, Joe Cole... all dominated the league. With Robbie Earle as my assistant manager, playing 3-4-1-2.

I've tried to sign Chivu numerous times during the last season, and will continue that assault. I think the two only surviving Derby players from the start of the game are Chris Riggott and Paul Boertien. Malcolm Christie left at the end of his contract to Sheff Wed at the end of this season.

  12. I've started playing the grand-daddy of football management games; CM01/02 with no patches. Started off with Derby to turn us around from the inevitable first season relegation. I signed the usual suspects (Selakovic, Kallstrom, To Madeira et al) and we finished 7th in the league, enough to qualify for the Inter-Toto cup. In the second season, we managed to finish 2nd in the league, get to the semi-final of the UEFA cup and win the League Cup. Just finished the third season where we won the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup and beat Dortmund in the UEFA cup final. Next thing to do with this Derby side is win the Champions League. I have added Ruslan Nigmatullin, Stephane Dalmat, Pablo Aimar and Christian Vieri to the team and To Madeira has just smashed in 74 goals in the previous season -- 48 of which have come in the league alone. Champions League will be ours.

It was a great weekend, I would thoroughly recommend it if it comes back to London - kids are more into competitive gaming than me and they both said it was amazing (our 15yo said it was 'literally the best thing he's done in life ever' lol).

We're planning a trip to Insomnia next Easter now as well, never been before but looks good!

    https://insomniagamingfestival.com/

The problem with Insomnia is that it obviously caters to a wider range of games. The main games playing when I went was Hearthstone and League of Legends -- games I have zero interest in. If I was to go Insomnia again, it would be to do BYOC.

Was a great weekend, much better than I thought it would be - like a football crowd for gamer nerds ?

Anyone interested in competitive gaming should knock it off their bucket list, it was a lot of fun.

I regularly watch esports on Twitch and have seen the CoD World Championships at Insomnia during Easter and really like how much effort is put in to these events. OWL was a good show but the season just went on for way too long for my liking.

Not a FPS but I was on a crew in Sea of Theives with PC players, now that was an experience. The difference in speed and sword action was nuts.

Doesn’t Fortnite have cross play with PC? Again not a FPS, but still, can’t imagine any Xbox players surviving long in a lobby with Ninja.....saying that, not many PC players do either.

Fortnite is cross platform and to be honest, there are console players that can keep up with PC players. Some console players will play with mouse and keyboard though (usually to get them to the top of leaderboards with the advantage KBM has over controllers).

FIFA and Call of Duty Blackout on the 28th Sep and 12th Oct, moving over to the PlayStation for these.

Don’t be shy now, drop us a friend request if you’ll be playing these, I also take Karaoke requests on the mic.

(just drop your forum username in the comments of you add me, that way I’ll have a clue who you are)

I'm hoping CoD will be cross platform with PC. Looking to get involved directly with Treyarch to host custom Blackout games through the competitive community I run.

Yeah I used to be a big fan of Battlefield 3 when that came out and was proudly average at it.

Came back to it a couple of months down the line and just got battered into submission.

I mean FIFA has managed to match me up pretty fairly over the years. It's a game you can put down for a month and not come back to finding gaming elites everywhere.

Gran Turismo had a good attempt at matching driving styles but hasn't figured out how to decide which driver is responsible for ramming. You can get punished for someone brake checking you.

I've only tried competitive racing in Forza 4 and it was an absolute blast. All competitors were on voice and were fully aware of where everyone else was on the track. VSCs were adhered to in the event of an accident and it was a good experience.

I don't get the fuss with Fortnite. I played it a bit but it was like Spyro graphics with some ridiculous building system and bunny hopping. Any shooter that has players bunny hopping is crap.

It's a shame DayZ never sorted itself out. So much good stuff in there.

My main reason for hating shooters is because I get killed before I can even play. Nothing like being in a match with gamers who put in 8 hours per day.

Fortnite graphics appeal to their targeted demographic and also allows them to have things like launch pads etc. in the game. Imagine Fortnite looking like PUBG but with some of the weird pickups... just wouldn't work.

I class myself as a semi-casual gamer but have grown up playing competitive gaming at a grassroots level where you would put in the hours against the top tier players so you could get better. Epic really need to put in skill based matchmaking before casuals are really put off by the skill gap that is slowly becoming apparent in the game.

Difficult to know for certain, but it does look like its heading that way.  I imagine there will be PvP and PvE servers to cater for all tastes.  I've played a bit of Rust and a lot of Just Survive and enjoy the post apocalyptic PvP setting, Fallout 76 could bring a new spin to this by adding typical Fallout style quests and teamwork - but my main concern would be how to properly protect your base whilst you're offline.  There is no worse feeling than logging in to find your stuff gone whilst you've been asleep.

Certainly a game I'll be keeping my eye on though. Fingers crossed!

I loved the idea of Rust when I got back in to PC gaming last year. Had quite a lot of fun playing it initially, then the griefing went from being funny to being down right annoying. I managed to keep a starter base maintained for atleast half a wipe before I got offline raided and lost atleast 12 hours worth of grinding. Never played the game much afterwards lol.
