As soon as I heard of Princess Diana's death I said "Now let the conspiracy theories begin!"

The phrase "never let the facts get in the way of a good story" is as old as the hills.

Whenever there is a tragedy we have the panacea of "There will be a full inquiry."

Another phrase which has crept in is "colleagues/ schoolfriends etc have been offered counselling".

Within hours of the Titanic settling in two pieces on the ocean bed the Americans set up an inquiry which found the Brits culpable.

Then Lord Mersey reached a different conclusion back in Britain.

No doubt in the future no facts will be considered absolute and history itself will be further distorted.

Seems to be an inevitable part of life.. and death, itself!
