Hucknall Ram
Are any members plumbers by trade? I have a bit of a boiler problem. The hot water works fine, but the Central heating won't come on. No fault lights, the thermostat clock is working, but I turn the temp gauge on full whack and it wont fire up. The boiler is a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i Junior Can anyone help?
Boycie
Thermistor? The little device that tells the control panel it's hot. Or diverter valve stuck Or control pcb gone. Type your fault into google and surf the net for similar people with problems like your. Just had Worcester change a diverter in a boiler for a customer, including parts and labour £
Boycie
Them boilers have a good warranty, is it out? You can ring them also and pick their brains too. Does sound like the thermistor though. It's telling itself that the heating is at the correct temp, when it's not. Also, on top of some worcesters is a reset button, look on t op of the boiler for a little red plastic pop up, if you see one, press it down. Feel sorry for you Huckers, it's bloody freezing tonight, snow forecast early doors tomorrow morning campers.

Hucknall Ram
Didn't help I dropped the thermostat the other day, it been in for three years and never serviced, it maybe that, tried the net, a lot are saying pressure, but it's a 1.25 bar which is good. One thing I do need to try is bleeding the radiators, just need to get a key tomorrow.

(tin hat) Apologies Boycie, 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Huckers, check your outdoor condensor pipe isn't frozen or blocked. We've had a similar problem before with our Worcester boiler. It might be worth checking it.

Hucknall Ram
Already there! Think I should get it serviced, any idea how much it would cost
ladyram
Not sure about the cost - if it's a condensor boiler which are more efficient, I think they're higher to service than other ones. It might be near the £100 mark. A bit of a bummer the week before Christmas. Better to get it looked at now though, instead of in Jan or Feb when it'll be even colder. Ask rellies for money instead of pressies for Christmas 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
Alpha
An arm. A leg. You'll still have to sit in the cold because you wont be able to afford the bills. I hate Plumbers. Swan 'round with their 'yeah, yeah, really busy mate. Stacked out' Here's a frickin medal. I've had a terrible year plastering. Hope you enjoy ya cruise that my Nan paid for when her outside tap froze. *angerfrustration*

Anyway, if he dropped the stat, it could be that telling the boiler it's hot enough. New stat. But, plumbers are very expensive, not like us super sparkies. We have compassion. Boycie
Huckleberry, if the stat is fecked, Look in the boiler where the stat connects to the control box, and short the 2 terminals together. This will simulate a call for heat, and prove if the stat is fecked or not. If you short out the stat, and the boiler kicks up, then the stats nacked.
