West End, what would you see? (Or Comedy?)

Looking to have a break with just me and the missus in the new year, we enjoy going to shows.

We've seen: Chicago, Lion King, We Will Rock You, Avenue Q & Wicked.

Has anyone seen anything recently that they would highly recommend? We'd prefer something modern, so not Phantom of the Opera etc.

And/or we'd like to go to a comedy club, does anyone have any recommendations in London?

Suggestions on cheap & cheerful places to stay on good underground lines, close to the shows would be good too =)

Thanks!
