adamD
me and dad were just haveing a chat about shaun barker and we thought he would be a good CDM hes mobile hes good at takling he knows how to pass and the can motivate the midfield might be comeplete balls but does anyone reckon he could play there cuz in my opinon O'Brian and shakell are amazing individually and as a pair aand it would be unwise to seperarte them 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/ Share on other sites
Perky1106
No I don't think he would. Why change the midfield or the defence when it works? When he comes back from injury he is going to have to win his place back and work hard in training. GboroRam
CDM is Cadbury's Dairy Milk, surely? Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208722 Share on other sites
adamD
well hendriks bailey and bryson are the only cm's we havee and cloughs been looking for a strong, experienced player to play there Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208723 Share on other sites
CumbrianRam
He should get used to the bench. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208724 Share on other sites
WorksopRam
I don't think he's particularly mobile, or a great passer of the ball... Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208728 Share on other sites
ram2767
He's our captain. He won't be on the bench. The competition for CB will bring the best out of him and he'll regain his place. CumbrianRam
If he plays like he did last season he will. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208732 Share on other sites
nfb
I think that the defence CB in particular looks solid, wish we could get in 'another Brayford', for the other side, then i think the back 5 (gk) look good, with competition/cover for places. I think CDM is a 'specialist' position, and i'm not sure Barker/leacock/Addison can do it ?? It suggests a 4-1-4-1, or a 4-1-3-2 formation, which we could do but........... food for thought though. Duracell
If he plays like he did last season he will. He won't play like he did last season. For two very good reasons: 1.) He can train. The only training Barker got was the pre-match warm-up last season. 2.) He'll have two feet! Last season he couldn't pivot or pass with his left foot. We only had three feet between our two centre halves. It's difficult to grasp just how unfit Barker was last season. But all the same, he's not a DM. He's not good enough at carrying the ball and his best attriubute is defensive heading, which would be made redundant in the centre of the field. I agree CR, just saying that outside OB and Shackell, who seem solid, if were are discussing playing a CDM then who amongst our ranks might do the job,cos NC isnt going to buy one....... surely a CF is an absolute must, before a CDM Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208759 Share on other sites

Would be fantastic to get 'another Brayford' at LB. We've needed one for ages and its the one position in the back 4 we lack. Surely theres one out there and its only a matter of time till we get him??????? Guest
I actually think you may be on to something here, I also think riggott when fit could be the other centre forward we could do with Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208792 Share on other sites
Gary Teale
Well riggott did play up front when he was a kid, then moved into midfield at 13 and didn't move to centre half until 16. Why don't we move Theo to left back, he could be like ashley cole with his pace Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7610-barker-cdm/#findComment-208806 Share on other sites
nfb
whilst we're talking b@llocks, NC was a goal machine, maybe, just maybe........... Adam, its fine for you and your dad to discus idea about solving some of what you see as Derby's problems, but as we have all found to our cost on any forum, suggest something thats 'blue sky thinking', and you will solicit some ire... Dcfc_Sterling
I don't think we should worry about the Defense or Midfield, we've got to worry about the strikers because we haven't got a goal scorer, Theo Robinson or Steven Davies don't stand out as goalscorers for me.
