me and dad were just haveing a chat about shaun barker and we thought he would be a good CDM hes mobile hes good at takling he knows how to pass and the can motivate the midfield might be comeplete balls but does anyone reckon he could play there cuz in my opinon O'Brian and shakell are amazing individually and as a pair aand it would be unwise to seperarte them 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I think that the defence CB in particular looks solid, wish we could get in 'another Brayford', for the other side, then i think the back 5 (gk) look good, with competition/cover for places. I think CDM is a 'specialist' position, and i'm not sure Barker/leacock/Addison can do it ??

It suggests a 4-1-4-1, or a 4-1-3-2 formation, which we could do but........... food for thought though.

If he plays like he did last season he will.

He won't play like he did last season. For two very good reasons:

1.) He can train. The only training Barker got was the pre-match warm-up last season.

2.) He'll have two feet! Last season he couldn't pivot or pass with his left foot. We only had three feet between our two centre halves.

It's difficult to grasp just how unfit Barker was last season.

But all the same, he's not a DM. He's not good enough at carrying the ball and his best attriubute is defensive heading, which would be made redundant in the centre of the field.

Don't think we will be seeing much (if anything) from Leacock and Addison.

I agree CR, just saying that outside OB and Shackell, who seem solid, if were are discussing playing a CDM then who amongst our ranks might do the job,cos NC isnt going to buy one....... surely a CF is an absolute must, before a CDM

Would be fantastic to get 'another Brayford' at LB. We've needed one for ages and its the one position in the back 4 we lack. Surely theres one out there and its only a matter of time till we get him???????

You want to make Shaun Barker redundant? A bit harsh mate 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

whilst we're talking b@llocks, NC was a goal machine, maybe, just maybe...........

Adam, its fine for you and your dad to discus idea about solving some of what you see as Derby's problems, but as we have all found to our cost on any forum, suggest something thats 'blue sky thinking', and you will solicit some ire...
