Bywater has injured his wrist in training and is a big doubt for Preston game :frown:

Not too bothered, there'll be a decent goalkeeper out there that we can get in on loan.

Ross Turnbull, Maik Taylor, Hennessey (Can't remember his first name), Bergovic (At a huge push), Given (No way in hell, just a pipe dream), Mannone.

Would like to see any of those, Stockdale at Fulham would be my ideal choice. Just hope we don't get the Bolton backup goalkeeper, not too impressed with him at all (he is only young, but still, not great)

Can't see us bringing a loan keeper in unless he's out injured for a month, this could be Deeney's last chance to impress with his contract up in the summer.

Wrist injurys tend to be lengthy injuries for the most part, I can see someone coming in atleast as backup for Deeney.

Not sure Nigel would want to cancel Atkins loan, he's doing well at Tamworth.

Its at moments like this that you realise what a good idea it was to sign Kasper Schmeichel in the summer on a freebie.

But Kasper has missed most of the season? And if we had of signed him dont think our board would allow us to be paying two "first choice" keeper wages??

Dont get me wrong I think Kasper is a better goalkeeper but there was no chance Nige was going to sign him, for some strange reason Nige thinks Bywater is the 6th best english goalkeeper.....

Derby County goalkeeper Stephen Bywater is set for a short spell on the sidelines after picking up a wrist injury.

The Rams' first-choice goalkeeper injured his wrist in training last Wednesday when falling awkwardly.

Bywater visited a specialist today and a small fracture has been identified.

A timescale of how long the 29-year-old will be out of action for is unclear, but it is expected to be weeks rather than months.

Manager Nigel Clough said: "Obviously Stephen's injury is a concern to us, however it is an injury we are not prepared to put a timeframe on just yet.

"Stephen is the sort of character who will want to play regardless, and it might be important in this instance that we look after him and ensure he doesn't make the injury worse."

Will be out for a month - looks like Deeney is not good enough in Nigel's eye's so why is he still here ?- instead looks like we are spending money on a loan keeper - Fielding in the frame again.

We are certainly going to try to bring someone in on loan, whether that is to play instead of Saul or sit on the bench," he told the club's official website.

"If we have to bring Ross Atkins back from his loan spell at Tamworth and play Saul, we will do that but we have got one or two enquiries in at the moment and we are hoping to get one of them.

We will know more in the next two weeks but we will go for a 28-day loan initially and then take it from there. We have got a very competent number two in Saul if it comes to that but I think we still need a bit of cover

Clough is stunned Bywater sustained injury in the first place, stating he simply felt something in his wrist while attempting to regain his feet, but hopes to have him back within four weeks, rather than the worst-case scenario of three months.

"It's just one of those freakish things that can happen in training," he continued. "It was very innocuous.

"It wasn't even a save, he was just getting up off the floor and felt something in his wrist. He went off immediately.

"We've had it scanned and there's a small fracture in there. But it's the best possible news for that sort of injury.

"It could keep you out for up to three months but we're hoping to have him back in four weeks."
