The PGA Tour has banned all players who are teeing it up in the LIV Golf Invitational Series and those who play in future events.

In a strongly worded letter from commissioner Jay Monahan, the Tour says that LIV Golf players are "suspended or otherwise no longer eligible to participate" in PGA Tour events. They will be removed from the FedEx Cup rankings following this week's RBC Canadian Open and will not be eligible for the FedEx Cup or Presidents Cup.

All funded by the Saudi Royal investment fund, same owners of Newcastle United.

The PGA has backed themes into a corner with this one.
Professional golfers have the right to ply their trade where they see fit like anyone else in any other sport or industry.

Yes the Saudi link with LIV Golf is one that comes with all the riches but also generates an awful lot more in moral dilemmas. However this should not be a factor to the PGA, this is an issue for the individual & if they chose to align themselves with such an abhorrent state then that’s for them to decide and wrestle with personally.

This banning order that they have generated gives the PGA nowhere to go other than to backtrack in the future. It comes across as an “it’s my ball and these lot aren’t allowed to play” childish mentality.

The money on offer to these players is beyond their wildest dreams and the PGA knew this was coming.

They must also know that the majority of their premier members (those that remain) are all about to jump ship on them, hence they will be left with nothing to market the OGA will suffer and potentially be left to die on the vine IMHO.

Subsequently the sponsorship’s that the PGA currently have in place will all erode extremely quickly if they maintain this stance, the PGA brand has suffered due to the exodus and the alignment with such a brand will become far less beneficial nor commercially appealing to any potential sponsors etc.
Taking that into account the remaining loyal members such as Rory will have no other choice than to shift their moral compass and engage in competition with those that have left the PGA for the much more financially appealing offer from LIV Golf.

So, in short the PGA are going to have to swallow some serious humble pie or face the prospect of collapse ??

How much is moral compass by PGA and how much is commercial ?

I've no idea how golf works as a pro-sport but is it the case the PGA never had a rival and just never considered there ever could be?

I think that’s exactly it @RadioactiveWaste the PGA has never had any serious rivals to their competition and became complacent.

We all know that ???? talks
