Day
DERBY County are confident of landing a striker on loan before tomorrow night's game against Hull City. "One of our targets became available over the weekend," said a club spokesman late last night. The target man is believed to be from a Championship club and he could sign today on a three-month loan deal. Derby have been making plenty of calls in a bid to boost their striking options. They have been without the injured Chris Porter and Steve Davies, while Rob Hulse joined Queens Park Rangers on deadline day and Luke Varney is on a season-long at Blackpool. Nigel Clough said after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Sheffield United that the search for a new face would continue. "We'll keep making the calls and we'll keep trying our best to get somebody in," added the manager. "There are not too many out there but we'll keep phoning and waiting for a positive response." On Saturday, Derby tried a number of players up front in their 4-2-3-1 formation. Tomasz Cywka, Kris Commons and Dean Moxey all had a spell leading the attack and even defender Shaun Barker was thrown up there late on. "We tried to change it about," said Clough. "It would be nice to have that option, a presence up there – a Porter or a Chris Wood from West Bromwich Albion, somebody like that just so you can get the ball up to them, but we played so poorly at times it wouldn't have mattered who we had up front," added Clough. "Whoever we bring in has to be better than what we have out there. People might say that is not difficult after Saturday's game but on the performances of the last few weeks, it is." Derby are still keen on West Brom youngster Wood and the 18-year-old New Zealand international was not in Albion's 18 for Saturday's draw against Tottenham Hotspur. Albion are unwilling to allow Wood out due to injuries to two strikers, Roman Bednar and Ishmael Miller, although Bednar was on the bench against Spurs. Another loan target, Matty Fryatt, started for Leicester City at Coventry. Clough felt Derby had enough creative players on the pitch against Sheffield United but they did not deliver. "Tomasz Cywka went up there and did very well," said Clough "We had people out there to create and they just didn't manage it. "The decision-making was poor and in all honesty, we didn't create much all game and we didn't get shots off when we could have done. "Kris Commons probably hasn't produced anything for us bar one cross in the 90 minutes." Porter's hip problem will keep him out of the Hull game. Derby say the striker has been suffering with an inflamed bursa, which is a fluid-filled sack that sits between the tendon and bone. He has had an injection in the bursa to ease the discomfort and now needs to strengthen the muscles around the hip. "I passed two very good strikers in the corridor after the Sheffield United game in Steve Davies and Chris Porter and it is very frustrating when they are not available," said Clough. Hulse did not feature for QPR at the weekend. He is expected to be out for a few more weeks with an Achilles tendon injury. http://www.therams.co.uk/news/Rams-brink-deal-bring-loan-striker/article-2635336-detail/article.html
Hucknall Ram
Maybe Fryatt then? If he came available over the weekend. Who do u think Daveo?
Day
Fryatt started on Saturday and came off after 81 minutes, if it is him I would guess all the rumours that he handed in a transfer request were true and he had another bust up after the game with Sousa. It would have to be a 3 month loan with a fee agreed for the move to be permanent in Jan, I just can't see Leicester loaning him for 3 months and that's it. If not him I can see it being a youngster that's not broken into the first team of the Championship Club in question.
Hucknall Ram
I maybe woundn't mind Stevie Howard on loan, 35 years old I know and he is in the squad alot (so I don't think it will happen). Apart from that its exciting to find out who it is.

Day
Skysports.com understands Derby are poised to sign Swansea striker Shefki Kuqi on loan. Rams boss Nigel Clough has been scouring the transfer market in a bid to bolster his attacking options and he has lined up a deal for Finland international Kuqi. Derby are short of options up front with Chris Porter and Steve Davies both sidelined, while Rob Hulse and Luke Varney both left Pride Park during the transfer window. Clough has been keen to bring in a new target man and he sees Kuqi as the ideal player to fill the void. Kuqi has dropped down the pecking order at Swansea with only two starts coming in the Carling Cup this season and Brendan Rodgers is thought to be happy to loan him out. The former Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich man is expected to arrive on a three-month loan deal and could go straight into the squad to face Hull on Tuesday night if he signs in time. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6374753,00.html

Day
You could say that or you could say a big ugly old fart, can't say I'm jumping for joy with this one but it will be nice to see a proper striker in the team finally. Looks like another Paul Dickov signing to me but If he can chip in with a few goals and hold up the ball for Commons, Cywka and Bueno maybe he could do a decent job for us till January. Have to remember if Porter can get 100% fit he'l only be a backup for us.
