RoyMac5
Have I misunderstood, I thought the main headline referred to the fact there was no 'relegation clause' to allow Alonso to pull out of the deal? There's hardly any squad left next year to worry about their wages! ?

If it is that the players wages reduce by a certain % that is good news as they might actually try to stay up and keep their higher wages. But if it is that they have a set transfer fee if we get relegated then they won't really be bothered about us going down. It also assumes anyone would want to pay this fee ? With some of the players this season I'd be doubtful - Even if those clauses are for very low fees I'd be surprised if the younger/academy players have them - I'm led to believe it's unusual for them - But most of the senior pros would and it would mean getting very low fees for the likes of Byrne, Lawrence and Jozwiak (who might be of interest to teams higher up)
