Not sure but could this be good news ?

Pratley Doesn't Want To Continue Contract Talks

Huw Jenkins has released a statement about Darren Pratley on the Official Site, and says that Pratley doesn't want to continue contract talks with Swansea City according to his agent.

The Swansea City chairman also confirmed that Nottingham Forest have made a written offer for Pratley, but is nowhere near the reported £1.5m bid that's been mentioned in the media.

The statement reads:

From Swansea City's point of view, taking into account the value and type of offer on the table from Forest, plus what's on offer to us as a football club over the next six months to achieve a top six finish, the club may feel it is in our best interests to keep Darren on board and allow him to see out his contract.

It was thought this week that Pratley was going to commit his future to the club, after taking off his shirt during Tuesday's game and raising it to show the fans at the Liberty Stadium. A message that he was here to stay we thought, but Pratley is another player, like Leon Britton who left for Sheffield United for free this Summer, who has cancelled contract talks to 'concentrate on his football.'

Full Statement......

Following the constant speculation regarding the future of midfielder Darren Pratley, Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins gives supporters an update on the current situation.

I can confirm that we recently received a written offer from Nottingham Forest for Darren Pratley.

However, the offer is nowhere near the £1.5m being reported and is not an up-front fee.

The offer is also nowhere near the level we feel is right for a player of Darren's ability at this point.

We have been in negotiations with Darren's agent and made an offer to match the hypothetical terms the agent somehow knows are on the table at Nottingham Forest.

Following discussions with his agent, he has now stated that Darren does not want further talks about contracts or new deals and just wants to concentrate on his football.

From Swansea City's point of view, taking into account the value and type of offer on the table from Forest, plus what's on offer to us as a football club over the next six months to achieve a top six finish, the club may feel it is in our best interests to keep Darren on board and allow him to see out his contract.

It is important to keep our supporters informed of developments, but until anything else materialises, that is the situation we are in.

Sounds like Forest are offering peanuts and only a couple of peanuts upfront and more peanuts if they get promoted at a guess.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry knows that Pratley is now available and if you pay around £1.5m up front you can have him. Could stir up abit of competition for the signing and up the value.

£1.5m seems to be a fair price, with a squad as lite as yours that surely must piss you off that the club won't just pay it, get the man in an move on.

It's about having the right player for all occasions. Look at the premier teams they have loads more midfielders than Forest. The work rate of Cohen, McKenna & Pratley in the same midfield would be a force to behold. I could see that working away from home. Cohen is played wide mostly, he is a left footer but Billy also likes him on the right wing. As you know he fills in at left back. Pratley is a class act & would really put pressure on the other midfielders. McKenna is good but we should not ask him to play every game. Moussi is getting better & better. Majewski is just something else I love watching him play, fastest feet in this league. McGugan has bags of skill & if Billy can get him to step up then who knows how good he can be. Billy wants two players for every position & he is driving us in the right direction. Untill he arrived at the City ground we had been in the doldrums, but he took us to 3rd in the league & we were beating teams buy 3 & 4 goals. Pratley would add to Forest & that can only be good.

Looking at your squad I would of said the midfield is probably your strongest area, your defence is pretty thin and 2 alright strikers. Seems odd that he's chasing Whittingham and Pratley instead defenders, possibly another striker.

THE shock capture of Craig Bellamy by Cardiff City could open the door for Nottingham Forest to finally land winger Peter Whittingham.

Striker Bellamy, the Welsh international skipper, has joined his hometown club on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 31-year-old becomes the Bluebirds' fourth addition of the summer and significantly bolsters their attacking options.

But the cash-strapped club have also been hit by the threat of a winding-up order from Motherwell, who claim they are still owed £175k from the sale of Paul Quinn.

Both Leicester City and Middlesbrough have been strongly linked with a move for Whittingham in recent days, but the Post understands that there is no foundation in either rumour.

And, while Cardiff may hope to inspire a bidding war for the player, who is out of contract in the summer, Forest remain the only club to have officially made an offer for the 25-year-old.

The Reds are happy to remain patient but are hopeful that they can still do business before the window closes, with Cardiff unlikely to want to risk losing the player for nothing next summer, having already lost prize asset Joe Ledley to Celtic on a similar basis in July.

And, while they are only paying a tiny portion of Bellamy's wages, that could still amount to £10k a week.

When added to the contributions they must make towards the wages of fellow loan signings Jason Koumas (Wigan), Seyi Olofinjana (Hull) and Daniel Drinkwater of Manchester United, the Cardiff wage bill is growing.

They may be prepared to offload Whittingham to help address that.

Forest also remain hopeful of signing Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley.

Swans' boss Brendan Rodgers remains steadfast that the midfielder will only be sold to a top-flight club.

But he admits they are struggling to persuade Pratley to sign a new contract.

"If Darren is going to leave, it has to be for a Premier League club," said Rodgers. "I have pushed really hard for him to sign a new deal.

"The board have worked very hard to offer the best possible deal, and if that's not enough than that's where we are. I expect he will be here for the rest of the season and I want my best players playing."

Pratley, 25, has netted two goals in three games already for Swansea this season and Reds boss Billy Davies believes he could be an invaluable driving force in the centre of the pitch for Forest.

Remove Bellamy and whack in another reason, tax bill, Dave Jones has a cold blah blah.

Even if Forest put a bid and it was accepted do you really think he would want to leave?

Cardiff reached the Play Off final, they have strengthened the squad with quality players, Forest on the other hand over achieved and reached 3rd and got rid of a load of players.

Do they?

New minted owners, paid the tax bill and Motherwell will be paid in 7 days. Bigger crowds, extra shirt sales with the Bellamy signing. Do they really need the money?

Boro offered us £3-4m for Hulse, some would say we needed the money but Hulse chose to stay.

Your clutching at straws again.

But Derby wanted to sell !

Face it, Derby are bringing in lower league players & have become a selling club. Lots of teams are doing it !

The only chance for a lot of clubs is to get hold of a few prem players on loan & see if they make it up. It may mean being a yo yo club for a few years but the money earned will make a difference.

Going into the prem is scary when look what happens when it goes wrong.
