He would grace nearly every Champ side easy over that period as well. I find it laughable people say he’s too slow and plays at a snails pace. The man had football brains on another level (and Martin) to the others.

When you’re crying out for a bit of control and nous in the middle. He is your man. The kids would learn a lot more from him as well.

...and yet nobody has bought him in yet. Maybe he wants more money or a longer contract than any of these other Championship clubs think is justifiable? Just like us.

What's the point in having control & nous when you can't close people down, make a tackle, rarely make an interception and never win a header as a defensive midfielder?

You've got to get him on the ball first, which requires someone alongside him winning the ball, exactly the same trap we've found ourselves caught in at present.

Plus he was injured for much of last season, so you've got to be able to trust that he's fit enough to perfrom and be available for enough games to justify the contract.

...and once again, he chose to leave! If he doesn't trust himself to earn another contract with us 2 years down the line then why should we also take that risk? Same for Martin.

Hardly, Martin has a 2/3 year contract at a team who are currently top.

Are we that tight financially that we couldn't afford to give Huddlestone and Martin a new contract? As much as we all want to cut down on the dead wood, you do need some proper experience in there. We are missing that at the minute because we've shifted out so many players over the last few years. It's alarming really how thin the squad has become.

No to Huddlestone yes to Martin but we offered him what we could afford at the time remember that we were awaiting to tribunal verdict ( still are in a way) and we needed to sell to afford anything and it wasn’t until we played Sheffield United that we actually received a bid for Bogle and Lowe. Martin decided to move on and in my opinion we needed him and another in that position and currently we have neither
