Unfortunately Colin never spoke about his playing days. He was a very quiet and quite a shy person. But now just looking at his career details it is  interesting. i can see he played with three of the cup winning team, and against some great names - wilf mannion for boro, alf ramsey  and bill nicholson for spurs, jackie milburn for newcastle, joe mercer for arsenal, malcolm allison for west ham, some of the busby babes including roger Byrne and david pegg (both killed at munich) and johnny berry (survived but never played again). Also played in front of 41000 at  old trafford.

He gave me peter doherty's autobiography. After i read it i flogged it on ebay.

What an ungrateful pillock. I really regret that.

I know what you mean about not really talking about it, I have prod and probe to get much from my grandad, I didn't know that until 2009 he held the record for longest without conceding a goal for Ilkeston Town. It was beaten in 2009 after 55 years.

That is certainly an impressive list of opponents, and team mates.
